Title: Unusual high downloads (520 USD) at 123rf
Post by: fotorob on February 24, 2016, 02:04
Hello,

yesterday I received a single download (pay-as-you-go-licence, size S) for 520 USD.

Some other photographers reported similar high single downloads (480 USD, 540 USD, 271 USD).

It's a bit strange, because I opted out of all partner sales and ELs there.

Does anyone have more information about this?

I sent an email to 123rf, maybe they can provide more info...

Best regards,
Robert

Same here. Over $500 for one sale for a standard licence.

Just had my more modest $17 taken back very poor....... perhaps they forgot to take their "cut" off. An apology would be nice but not holding my breath.

I closed my account with them after this sort of thing started happening with me. A big sale then a refund, then another refund and no sale...
They were all over the place.

When I give up on an agency I usually just leave my port with them and collect the odd sale - I just stop uploading.
However 123RF is the only site where I actually made an effort to make sure that they deleted my content from their site.

its obviously an error to receive those amounts. doesnt entitle anyone for compensation either.

When you find e.g money on the street and return them to the owner, you are entitled to receive 10% of the lost property.

I had a download on January 25th for $21, but I didn't see anything from yesterday, unless it disappears completely from the records.

I had a image removal with a reduction in red type and a new sale by the correct amount this morning. So the original "sale" is shown

I've had a whole bunch all for $2.10 over the past several days - I am expecting them all to be refunded or cancelled later but will be happy if they are legit.

I haven't had any huge sales, but for prior refunds what I have seen is the reversal shown as a negative number in the Gross Earned and Net Earned columns and under that, in red, (Refund for another download).

Unfortunately, they don't connect the refund to the original sale, so you need to go back to find the image in the list with the same sale amount to know what goes with what - although for a $500 sale that'd be easy - I've never had anything over about $30 from 123rf

I had a couple of  $100+ sales and after a few days boom ... REFUND :p
they claim it was a credit card fraud.

They often blame it on credit card fraud and if so, it's their task to protect the shop so that OUR images cannot be stolen. I wonder how they would do it if they had a brick and mortar shop with real goods.

Yeah, the contributor gets nothing, not sure if the agency gets anything, but the thief still gets the digital file. I wish they would come up with instantaneous credit card fraud prevention, before the thief gets the merchandise. In a brick and mortar store, at least the merchandise is physical, and could be recovered and given back to the store owner.

What amuses me is, that someone with stolen CC goes on image spending spree.
Title: Re: Unusual high downloads (520 USD) at 123rf

Take care there is some kind of CC scam, might be around the exchange rate, so you spend up big when the $ is low, then ask for refund when the $ is higher, had it done to me a few times. Not only do you loose the money you also loose the image because the stocklibrary has no control over your image once it has been downloaded.
