Are there any good sales on video? I have good video sales on other sites.

I am thinking trying to upload to 123

Very few but some. I sell more on 123 than on Fotolia. There are three price tiers you can choose.

I wouldn't mess with 123 unless you also sell photos or vectors. The video sales go a long way to bump up ranking.

Can you develop on his please?
How do the rankings and the price tiers work?

123 RF is the ONLY site where I have actually deleted all my content. I usually just leave my clips on low earners and just stop uploading - and still collect the odd payment here and there where I am not active. However the treatment that I recieved from 123 RF went past a reasonable threshold of professional conduct.
I would get sales every now and then - only to be cancelled for refunds. This happened so often that I actually owed them money for some reason.
For example I'd make a sale with a $10 comission then it gets cancelled and they would want to refund the customer some magical ammount, resulting in a $ 15 return from me.

Happened way too often. It wasn't a quality issue with my clips either. Support completely ignored my pleas for some sort of explanation.
This is just my experience, try them out if you want, personally - I can't recommend them.

I can't find anything about uploading video on their site. Are commission percentages the same as given by your rank for photos?
And how much "points" do you receive for video downloads?
To sell video, can you just start uploading if you're already a photo contributor or is there some kind of separate application / approval step to start selling video?

I can't expand as much as I'd like. I don't actually know the systematic 'points' you earn for selling video. They have a list for how may points you get toward ranking for various photo sales but I haven't seen such a list for video.

Like other sites, 123 has a tiered royalty system (easy enough to find on their site) where you get a higher percentage royalty based on your prior sales. At 123 (like at BS), the tier is based on most recent 12 months of sales. Video sales count A LOT toward these rankings. I've never done the math, but I think they contribute 100+ points in many cases. So the few video sales that we get (we've had no return problems yet) help us keep at a higher royalty tier for our photos. We are a small time seller, really, in regards to both photos and videos, so we are only at Tier 2 on 123 but our video sales got us there faster and are helping us push to Tier 3.

Thanks, so it's not only me who can't find the information on their page  :)

What formats do they accept for video? Anything special there?

I'm wondering wether it's worth a try...

I don't know how to the video uploads. My husband does that. I upload our photos but he does the videos. I don't think he has to do anything special at 123.

Just a thought but have you tried going to the upload page on the site? I just uploaded some photos but there was an option to click on for Footage. That page may well tell you the technical requirements. It would make sense to have that there. But, you are totally right, I couldn't find any other information regarding video on the site. Regards, David.

ETA Just checked for myself and it does -I don't do video so didn't mean much to me :)

You can only upload 10 gigs at a time. This goes fast if you are doing 4K.  I use ftp uploads and then go into the site under history and process those clips, add csv etc. then I go back and upload another batch and start all over. Your dtp will get the clips kicked back by 123 if you have not processed the previous 10 gigs of clips. If you are just uploading HD then you have a lot more clip slots you can work with.

I have had a few sales and all were regular type commissions, no cheap subs.  It does kick your rank up for a month. But sales are not regular. I strategy is the hope that someone else takes video more seriously and I want to be positioned if that happens.  Of course there the risk of a bunch of wasted time, like at Pond 5, where your strategy backfires.  At P5 I went from $400 a month to zero after they launched their new program.  At 123 I cannot honestly say it makes me good money with video, but then again neither does VB or ME.  I make most at SS.

So, my honest answer is that 123 will not increase your income with todays model and buyer base.

30 gigs, as far as I know. I just talked to their support about some really bulky upload (almost all my portfolio). They are ready to give specific FTP for that purpose, they just asked to notify them in a day.

No, it's 10 gigs for FTP. I use it weekly and also have had communication with them.

I managed to upload footage via FTP (not 4k).
Now I am on the "manage media" part.
I enter a title, the keywords and my location, then click on save and it gets stuck there for ages.
Is this normal?

I usually have to log out. close the browser then log back in when that happens. So yes, it happens, but not all the time.

Are you using a CSV file for your keywords and titles? I suppose if you have just a handful of clips that is fine but I use a CSV file and just upload that and all my clips are tagged.

I never understood how a CSV file works, so I enter title and keyword but cut and paste on each individual clip.
Also, if I understand correctly editorial stuff has to be entered in a separate batch, right?

I also lack understanding of CSV files.  Been doing cut and paste from an excel doc (when the FCP meta fails to transfer).  Are there any CSV for video submission tutorials out there?

I find uploading to 123rf with a CSV a waste of time.

By the time you've clicked open the 'file details' and copied their ID into your CSV you could have pasted the data directly into their webpage with far fewer mouse clicks.

Why would you do that? I just use my titles.

Their CSV specs say to paste in their ID along with your original file name.
It's also in their sample CSV.
