I thought my cut of 9$ something for an EL (another type, though) was low. It was the final straw though - closed my account.

Yeah it's not like they sell much anyway... I'm also cutting down some agencies.

Very weird those LEL's from 123rf. Two of them today, only $2.98 each :(. I guess it's a new low for me.

I make 0.324 cents for a subscription sale, so I wondered if it would be possible to see an 18 cent royalty on anything, but sure enough, when looking back through the LELs for this year I found one at 18 cents (the others were from 2.984 to 9.00 which seems more reasonable).

At the 45% royalty rate (which I'm at) and the prior promise that for the purpose of calculating royalties, 40 cents would be the minimum per-credit price used, 18 cents is the smallest royalty possible on a 1 credit sale. And some buyer is getting some type of extended license for that?

It's been a while since any 123rf staff stopped by here, but I think I'm going to write to support about my 18 cent royalty on an LEL because that just seems wrong.

Limited enterprise licence. resale options, something like sod for 100$ on SS, stealing anyway. we should warn 123rf to selling resale options for pennies.

Doesn't it give you a warm and fuzzy feeling to know that the big MS Agent is so respectful of the measly little photographer.

It seems that 123rf doesn't want to talk to contributors anymore. I've sent them an email on October 3rd asking them to verify two LEL's sold for $2.98 and if my commission is the right one. No answer. I've sent them the second email on October 17th. No answer. Meanwhile (yesterday, October 21st) I sell another LEL for $0.18 and they doesn't seem to care about (at least) answering an email and giving some explanations. That LEL for $0.18 felt a bit insulting yesterday... Seriously 123rf, 18 cents?

I don't yet have a reply (except for the automated receipt notice), but in the past they've been good about replying to support tickets. I'll post here when I hear back from them - it would not be good news if they've stopped responding, so I'm hoping you have some sort of e-mail problem that's behind the apparent silence.

It would be good if sites had on-side records of open, and closed, support tickets so they could be viewed online. No one has that (iStock is close but they delete links to closed tickets from the UI)

And I still don't have a reply - I sent a followup too, just in case the first e-mail was "lost" somehow. Nothing.

Is it some sort of extended holiday in Malaysia (which is I think where all the contributor support answers used to come from even though they have sales offices elsewhere)? I realize that the silence for lbogdan from October 3rd would mean an extremely long holiday :)

I used the Contact us form and selected Photographer for the type; I did get the automated e-mail when I checked the box to get an e-mail copy of my submission. Has that way of contacting them been replaced and they just didn't update the web site?

Or put another way, has any contributor sent in a support ticket in October and received an answer? If so, how did you submit your ticket?

I'm very glad that it was a technical glitch - you've always been prompt in responding in the past and I couldn't imagine that you'd just given up on talking with contributors :)

I have forwarded my copy of the original ticket from October 21st to the e-mail you mentioned.

I received a reply from support about the 18 cent royalty for an LEL. It was a special deal - a free trial subscription-like package for one client with a limited scope of uses. Apparently both of us with those sales had them from the same client.

Given that this isn't a generally available deal and the license scope was more limited than RF, I'm OK with it. I think they need a different column for reporting "extended" licenses that are actually reduced scope licenses. Royalty Free plus something isn't the same as Royalty Free minus something.

does anyone know how many RC one gets for an LEL? or if it is variable is there any way to determine how many one gets for each one.

I was wondering the same thing, so I logged into their "Online Help" .  Well, the person I talked to wasn't much "help".  At first he didn't have a clue what I was talking about.  So I gave him a link to the commission structure page.  He said I had 22 LEL's last month for a grand total of 110 credits.  I then asked if that meant that they were worth 5 credits each.  His reply:

"I can't confirm on that, most probably or the credits on each image is different too depending on the usage declared

3:21 pm If you want me to investigate further, i will. But i need to check with the IT support

Cause i don't have the access to check on LEL downloads."

Sounds to me like you get the amount of credits that the credit-tally-person is in the mood to give you.  One more nail in the 123 coffin for me....you guys are already off my upload list and I am considering deleting everything.

Just in case anyone is wondering about this...
It's now been 6 days and the promised "follow up e-mail" to answer my question about LEL credits has yet to appear in my in-box.  Big surprise there.  I'm thinking maybe a dart board with various credit amounts......

I have just received $3.50 for an LEL. It makes me mad knowing someone has an any type of extended license and I just get that much for it. I have earned the same for TIFF image downloads.  >:(

I think, based on what they've said to date, that it's more accurate to think of this as a type of RM license, not a royalty free plus something extra of an EL. As such, if the rights granted are small, a smaller price seems OK to me. Some examples of what 123rf has said:

Thank you Jo Ann.

I wrote to them and they wrote back almost immediately with an explanation of what an LEL is used for.

They said: "LEL is a specially negotiated license that allows the Client to use the Content for one (1) specific (declared) use. It's negotiated upon request and varies from client to client. The 3.50USD earning download is from a 10 credits limited size and usage terms deal where the content is used for 1 specific usage based on the agreement."

This makes sense to me and I appreciated their quick reply. It would be interesting to know what the image is being used for.
