I have had several editorial photos accepted, but I see that they have not gone live.   They don't show up as part of my portfolio, and they don't come up in a search.    Has anybody heard about when they are actually going to go on sale?

I've had reasonably good luck with selling editorial at Dreamstime and Bigstock, and I'm happy to give 123RF a chance as well.    I find that there is very little rhyme or reason as to which editorial submissions each site accepts.   Some of my best editorials (in my opinion) have been rejected at Dreamstime and/or Bigstock, but I'm pleased to see that they were accepted at 123RF.

Hi Danybot, I've got over 500 editorial images ready to go live on 123. I emailed them about this a few weeks back and they replied that they were "looking at May". I think they are trying to hit a balance between leaving the launch too long (and having photographers get fed up waiting and stop uploading editorial) and launching too soon (and not having a good enough selection to interest editorial customers). Either way I guess the answer is "soon". BTW you didn't mention Shutterstock - for me this is one of the best sites for editorial sales. Good luck with your sales when they do go live. Regards, David.

i've had good results with editorials on both DT and SS; BigStock hasnt done much for any sales lately

123 is accepting editorials at a much higher rate than RF right now, probably to build their library

Are editorial images kept as a separate portfolio?

no, they came up as the latest images along with the rest of my portfolio. they looked very good on the black frame background.

Just uploaded a large batch (40 is a bunch for me) of editorial images to 123rf.  I hope they go on sale pretty soon.  The editorial stuff is making quite a difference at SS, especially on the weekend.

Is anyone from 123rf seeing this?  Is editorial stuff actively selling yet?

Slightly off topic  but is there enough of a interest to make money at micro rates on editorial images? Generally editorial is a smaller.

I don't really have the portfolio to answer that Zeus, but ... I can't see that it matters whether you are selling RF or Editorial?  Micro is Micro, isn't it?

Counting what I've made on Cutcaster, my editorial income surpasses the RF sales, considerably.

Again, I am one of those with a portfolio too small to provide consistent analysis.

There seems to be little to no urgency in reviewing editorial.  I'm wondering just how serious 123rf is in branching into the editorial arena?  Priority seems to be on giving away iPods.   ;)

seems like they have their priorities straight, i'm getting mine this week (not from 123).

if sales are anything to go by, since 123 is already lagging dt, which is lagging ss (both editorial sellers), i don't expect much from 123's editorial sales. but one never knows.

It was editorial sales at SS and DT that convinced me to give 123rf a chance.  One day doesn't mean a lot, of course, but yesterday was my best Sunday ever at SS.  7 of my 9 dnlds were editorial.  DT also offered some encouraging results.

I have high hopes for 123rf ... if they ever get around to reviewing images.  LOL

i think alamy may be the best market for your archival editorial work. one plus about 123 is that they are not restricting their editorials to just news events, but to also include street scenes, which is a bit more creative.

i don't get massive # of dl on my micro rf images in any case, so i don't know if my #s will be helpful to you. however, at ss, my editorial dl is about 20% of total, whilst making up 35% of the port. also, 30% of od are editorial and had one el. dt is insignificant but i haven't uploaded much to them.

actually all the places that take editorial DO accept non-news images, you just have to play the game -- eg, SS has VERY strict rules on what the caption looks like; most want at least a dateline, and that the caption reads like a news event, even if it isnt -- eg, in my tribal villager images, my normal caption would be "Bonda tribal woman", but for editorial they want "Bonda tribal woman poses for a portrait" and then these are accepted by SS, DT and BigStock

123 has been very fast in reviewing editorial - usually a day or 2, comapred with weeks for the regualr stuff

I would agree but they seem to have fallen asleep again.  The test batch (editorial) was accepted almost immediately.   Sometimes I think 123rf will make uploading worthwhile ... then they seem to take a break ... just quit???

My latest batch of 40 editorial images is just in limbo.  The inconsistency is absolutely frustrating.

I know you guys are there ... I see you playing on Twitter.   >:(

Congratulations Luis! Still waiting for my first editorial sale (with 474 live). Another 41 pending (going back a month). I'm still wondering when they will start to market the editorial collection -it's not even mentioned on their home page yet! Regards, David.

I had an email exchange, David, and was told they are preparing a "grand launch" and marketing campaign ... soon.
What bothers me is their seeming lack of concern for currency.   Editorial images should not set for days on end without review.  Glad I chose to test with "historical editorial" rather than anything "time sensitive."
