Alamy - New QC procedures as a result of persistent failures

I read on several forums how easy Alamy is but it seems that there are a few that are having problems with QC and slowing down the 48 hour turn around, read more here:

I never get rejections from Alamy, so it shouldn't bother me

So basically all the new contributors have to take the punch for the garbage their current contributors put on the site.

No, we are all treated the same. It is easy to get 100% acceptance there. There will be new people uploading garbage as well as older contributors and this seems like a sensible way of punishing them.

Not if new users and current users meet the QC requirements, if you read the blog it says it will only apply to persistant offenders, if you put up a batch of 20 images, and you get a rejection and you just delete the one failed image without looking at the rest in the hope that repeat submissions will weed out the bad images for you, and 4 attempts later they get accepted, or you just put the rejected image in another batch and hope it will sneek in, then you will be penalised, if you self edit and look at the rejected image find any other in the batch and future batches with the same problem, do not upload them then there will be no problem.

Alamy only look at a few from each batch and rely on the photographer to "be professional and edit thier own work, and submit good images", it is nice to be treated this way rather than "Big brother" having someone judge your work and rejected an image on an opinion, after you have been selective already.

I think some of this comes from forums where rejections are greeted with "Just upload then to Alamy, they will take anything", or "I will just upload my rejects to Alamy", I have seen these type of comments a few times.

If this keeps the 48hr review time up and going I think it is great.

The only QC issues I have had were of my own problem trying to submit images that were a little more artsy then they like (ie, softfocus). It seems to me, from reading the complainers about QC problems, I have gotten the impression that many think anything they shoot should be accepted.

This is the most important problem there, that people submit anything they come across with.

If one self edits each submission then the failures go to near zero (I only have had one in almost a year submitting, and it was my fault, there were dusts speckles in some photos).

Had my first rejection last month and they rejected the whole batch. I thought that was over with and it was, photo by photo?

Thanks for bringing it up, because I know which photo it was... the one with the smoking tires. Grin

Which I suspect they thought was haze or out of focus.

I'll shoot the sharp ones back at them, after checking each one for sharpness. I thought I was going blind! Wink

Hey guys,

I just got my 4 pictures rejected at QC at Alamy and by looking at the QC report i know which one is it. Would you advice to resubmit the 3 good ones in my next batch ?
