yes its been around a few moths,  very handy indeed, my latest payouts using paypal.

Again, Alamy shows the correct way to do it: You can choose if you want your Paypal payment in US Dollars, Euros or UK Pounds instead of getting the currency converted by Paypal with its poor rates.

I will continue with direct funds transfer though.

@Leaf - many thanks for the update info re Paypal.

Any thoughts on which currency we should choose to be paid?  I know it said that they pay in a way where there will be no fees taken out... but if I was to receive Euro's later converting them to USD... I'm curious as to whether it might mean a bigger paycheck.  What do you guys think?  Or is the dollar amount converted over to Euro equivalent, and then sent?  Maybe I'm just spinning my wheels for nothing here.

250 threshold is not what bothers me, but the f*ckin' long time until customers pay for images IS!

I have some distribution sales from February that are not cleared at this moment.

I'll switch to PayPal because I have an account that's just for photography. Direct transfer was never a problem for me.

I get US Dollars because I'm there. Not to difficult of a decision.

Everyone is paid up and I'm at $248 I need a sale. Even a crummy newspaper commission would do! 

Two questions.

Why a US bank account, Alamy is in Great Britain?

Why don't you trust PayPal, all they do is hold money and make transfers. You get paid from Alamy and you send it to your bank account, no fees, it's faster than a check in the mail.

By the way, I have gotten paid by a Canadian magazine and the bank held the check for two weeks as "foreign". (I'm in the USA) I wonder if your checks coming from Alamy to wherever you are, would also be held. What I'm getting at, is a full month to get your money vs PayPal which could be days. Just transfer it out immediately if you don't trust them holding it.

I've seen people unhappy with PayPal holding funds and locking accounts, never the why that made sense. I've never had any problems and I have sold my 70-200 IS-USM to someone in Sweden, my 400mm 2.8 to someone in Peru and those were thousands, not a few hundred here and there. Might be that I've had an account since the 90s - eBay Member since: Sep-27-96 might be that I'm located in the US, who knows why they do some of the things they do.

But it makes sense that if they are going to hold it anyway, you save nothing in time by using PayPal instead of checks. Yes I have two PayPal accounts also, one was for business one for personal, nice way to keep the transactions separated and under the old system on had lower fees.

After all that, I'm very happy to get my next payment electronic through PayPal, just hope I don't think it's "free money" and find things to buy on eBay before I get it into the savings account! 

I guess that ends the discussion. Alamy has moved out of the dark ages, like the rest of the world. No More Checks.
