I don't understand, what do you think? The subject is a question and the rest is your opinion
For me, only images which haven't the correct size failed QC.

i was surprised that i had a 'partial' failure at alamy once. they approved all photos except the one that failed qc, so i actually knew which one it was. 

It happens very often. The file gets corrupted, or something.

I use 5Dmk2 so I am downsizing for Alamy. Most often reason was "Dirt or dust or other blemishes"  which could be corrected if I new what image was failing.

The batch didn't fail. You don't have to resubmit. Only that one image.

We don't have access to your account and checkout the problem, and much less access to the alamy system to see if there's a bug...

When I have a processing error I always get the reference of the image corrupted. And when I had a rejection (extremely rare, thankfully) I always got a reason.

Uploading images of a 6mp camera is borderline and risky, although I had very little problems with the 8mp canon 350D and the kit lens. With the 5DmkII no problem at all except for a dust spot once. Clumsy...

The status of your batches are there. If you got a "Failed QC", there will be a blue "i" icon next to it, click on it and in the right column of the next table there will a reason for the rejection in the line of the file. Scroll or pass pages if you've sent a big batch.

If you got a "Partially Failed" status then you got a processing error. Click on the Media Ref. (second column left) and you'll see the status of each image and can even filter for rejection reason which will be "Image processing error".

Other than that, there may be a problem in your account and you should contact alamy.

They move the rejected image to first on the list, with the reason. You'll see if you look that it wasn't the first uploaded in the batch. (unless of course it was?)

If you have four batches waiting and one fails from any batch, ALL FAIL. It's clear and they say it everywhere, we have repeated it over and over. Don't upload more than one batch at a time.

One other thing you can assume is that if one image fails, you should check the rest of the batch for similar issues. If you just remove the one that failed and upload again, and another fails, they will eventually put you on alert for repeated failures. Keep getting failures for the same reasons and the give a vacation.

The point is, if one fails, it's important to check the rest for something similar.

Size failures don't cause batch rejections, they just get flagged and ignored. Also the processing error shouldn't harm anything else in that batch, just re-upload.

Orange failures are for Size as far as what I've done wrong. In 2008 I had an entire batch refused for one photo, under sized... RED. In January I had one failed for Processing Error, and the rest of the batch passed. Also Orange.

That leads me to believe, Orange is size or processing and doesn't fail the whole batch. It's done by the computer.

Red is when QC looks at an image and fails it. Keep in mind the first image is the first one to fail, not the first in the batch as you uploaded them.

I never had the whole batch rejected because of 1 image, I only had 1 (or 2 or 3) images rejected but the rest accepted.

However I never had any problems with the content of my pictures (like noise, spots or anything), it has always been my mistakes with sending a few undersized images in a batch - may be that's the reason they accept the rest.

Right, they don't refuse entire batches anymore for processing errors or undersized. Now they just drop those and the rest continue to QC.

Alamy does not review for content. They make it a big point in their FAQs and the videos about contributing. They do refuse "glamor" or objectionable images. But as I've pointed out, if you want to take a photo of a brown rock on a sand beach with nothing else, and it's well lighted and exposed, they will take it. 

Alamy prefers to encourage self review. Any of us needs to be personally responsible and critical and not waste their time trying to sneak through marginal images. Micro on the other hand, you can throw up anything and see what sticks, maybe get lucky? Two different philosophy's of reviews.

No dust bunnies, no flaws or spots, and "Soft or Lacking Definition" appears to be the biggest reason for saying, try again. Think sharp and clean images and they will pass.
