Topic: My earnings on Alamy

So I'm trying to do my end of the month earnings and can't quite figure out what my August balance on Alamy is.  Because the balance brought forward doesn't match what I get when I add all of it up up and subtract all but August from it.  There's like a $30 difference between the two ($30 more on Alamy than the number I've come up with).

Can anyone pretty please alleviate my confusion because right now getting this amount right (aside from another site with a $.75 discrepency I need to track down) is keeping me from getting it done.  I just want to be accurate for next years taxes.  This month is being a pain with it.

Thanks in advance,

Anita

Hi sobm Smiley Actually you can only submit large raster (jpgs) on Alamy no eps files as of yet.  I've done okay with 9 sales there since I started in January of this year 3 novel use sales and 6 royalty free sales (all the RF sales were in August).   I haven't tried to upload any photos there (well I did but it gave me an error about not being the right size or something) might try to figure that out one of these days to see what happens with it.

If you decide to upload I wish the best of luck to you Smiley

Okay I think I've figured it out by looking at the balance of account page.  I take the total of the actual sale and minus their commission for it which will leave me with what I earned for that image?  Is that correct?  So if that is correct then I get 60% and Alamy takes 40% right?  Man I hope I'm right because I'm tired of looking at those figures.

Are there any distributor's sales? If yes, then you get 40%, Alamy 40% and distributor 20%. I have noticed an increasing amount of distributor sales this year.

Hi Freedom.  I don't think I have any distributor sales.  Would somewhere on the Summary of Images Sold page it would say distributor or distrobution sale?  I ask because I'm not sure.

Thanks.

Anita, you can check if you have any distributor sales from the Balance of Account page. You can select three months or 1 year, whichever is applicable. Usually it takes a very long time to clear distributor sales. One of my sales was reported six months ago and is still not cleared.

*!  Wonder why they take so long to clear on those particular types of sales.

I looked over my balance of account page and all I see are novel use (all cleared), and the rest of them that happened in August just say Sale nothing about distriburtors at all.

I wish they'd make that section of the site easier to read and find out what I'm actually looking for as far as my stats are concerned.  A bit of a pain to figure this out.

Have you ever checked out the "Net revenue" section?
http://www.alamy.com/net-revenue.asp

There you simply enter the time period you want to verify in the upper right hand corner and then select from the pulldown menu if you want the "cleared", "paid" and "invoiced" amounts to be displayed.

It's a huge time saver when trying to figure out if a sale was through a partner agency etc.

This page should explain everything.

P.S. To check your actual sales for August enter 01/08/11 to 31/08/11 and then select "Invoice". That's all.

What a great link for checking one's Alamy sales info - clear, detailed, and all in one spot - thanks!

@OP

I've been with Alamy for years and my best advice to you would be that there is only one figure you need to concern yourself with and that is found in your 'balance of account' page on the 1st of each month under the title 'funds transfer'

Wow!  Thanks for all the information in the thread.  Never did know how the net revenue page worked till now.  I just thought my numbers were right and their numbers were wrong.  Turns out it was the other way around.  So thanks to you all I now know what I'm doing Smiley
