I got out of IS long ago, and recently ended it at DT and SS.  But I still have a few hundred at Alamy and I'm sticking with them because when I do get a sale, I make a few dollars.  I just wish I could get one more often - like maybe once a month :-)   As it is now, I just have no motivation to do microstock.   But who knows - maybe in the future Alamy comes out on top, as badly run companies like SS start to fade, and sales increase.

With IS I felt like every change they made had exactly one purpose: increase their profits.  And if contributors had to jump through even more hoops, that didn't matter.  With Alamy it seems like at least some of their effort is going into streamlining things for contributors.  The amount of money anyone is likely to from a photo is now so small that unless uploading is just drop-dead simple, why even bother?

These new tools have been "coming soon" since at least March 2016. Here are some of the discussions here about this:

The blog post from November (referenced in this week's email, but it's not a new post) led me to hope we'd be seeing the new interface, but I still see the old Manage Images. I'm really looking forward to an easier process with keywords and the option for RF editorial, but I haven't heard of anyone who's seen this yet (it's supposedly rolling out in phases?).

Yep their email confused me as it seemed to be "news" but actually was stuff they'd already announced but not released

At least Alamy take their time to test things and make sure they are working properly as opposed to other micro sites SS & iS who just do things on the live system and screw it up completely

My girlfriend signed up yesterday and to my surprise she has a new system on her account, her 3 test photos are still under QC so the funcionality was locked, but looks promising. My account is still the old version... Hope they will roll it out to everyone soon...

It's the same old news blog but I saw people asking about what it was going to look like and how it would work. Sorry I should have added, original information. I got a years review email from Alamy and that was on the list.

Here's what was on top just in case someone doesn't get the mailings. Trends for 2017, which I treat like all the rest of the guessing. http://www.alamy.com/blog/stock-photography-trends-2017?utm_campaign=625892_Blog%20update%20-%20January%202017&utm_medium=email&utm_source=Alamy%20Contributors%20&dm_i=2SWW,DEXW,12IO8X,1CHLW,1

No need to apologize I got the email direct from Alamy...their fault. Think they could have just added something to clarify.

That email, I got it too and didn't realize it was kind of a years summary. Coming soon no date is maybe better than December, no wait, January, no Feb 1st, or maybe Feb 25th, no it's going to be March.  :o

Did a similar thing yesterday helping someone set up an Alamy account and they had the new system too.

It looked very neat and clear too.

If that also happens if you setup a new pseudonym?

Yeah back from the dead thread. Seems some people have been asking.

Simplified restrictions

In addition to the simplified restrictions that were recently introduced across Alamy, there will now be a check box for Editorial Only. This means you can assign editorial only restrictions to an image if you wish and this includes Royalty Free images.

https://www.alamy.com/blog/introducing-the-new-alamy-image-manager?utm_campaign=625892_Blog%20update%20-%20January%202017&utm_medium=email&utm_source=Alamy%20Contributors%20&dm_i=2SWW,DEXW,12IO8X,1CHLW,1

Also the new editor did finally get rolled out for everyone.

Hey look, January 2017: Upload has been revamped with test submissions only requiring 3 images now

OK so I changed a bunch to RF, not all. I made sure others were marked Exclusive, I'll take the extra 10%. So for the math wizards, by clicking Exclusive I gave myself a raise. Instead of $50 for the last sale @40% of $125 I got $62.50. What's that in modern math raises? Cool, all I had to do was click some buttons, for a 25% raise?  :)

Nice to have some RM Exclusive images still on Alamy. Nope I won't be retiring, but I did get credited with a nice sale. I'll count that money when it's paid and sent to me.
