Title: Sale not reported (yet)
Post by: Dumc on October 17, 2018, 13:09
I accidentally found this photo of mine.

It says Profimedia/Alamy. This is like distributor sale, right? The article is from January the 10th, and this sale hasn't been reported yet. Is it possible that it takes so long?

It shouldn't take that long.

Report it to Alamy with your image reference and a link to the site and get them to chase it

I e-mailed them this morning and after a few hours I got this reposnse:

I’ve checked and we do have a relevant download for this user by one of our distributors. Distributors take longer to report usage than direct sales as there are more people involved in the process (us, them and their customer). However, in this case I have forward this over to our distribution team for an update on when this usage will be billed.

It's probably just 5$ gross sale, but still...

But still it's the principle you are right, they are responsible for all use and payments.

Had the same experience, same reseller agency, I'm from Serbia, I spotted images last december, same response, still no reported sale.

I am frequently spotting sales via profimedia, it is one of Alamy's distributors for Central and Southeastern Europe. As told previously, pretty long to pay, they are legitthough, but I don't remember having got more than 5$ per sale from these guys.

I get many of these very low fee sales. Also, many from Profimedia. I chase images used by that agency regularly, and Alamy's answer isn't to stop using the agency but to tell me to opt out of that territory in April if I don't want to keep chasing them. That is one of the reasons I started a thread on here recently asking for regular sellers to comment on how many undeclared image uses they find - With only one reply so far. The more people who check for undeclared uses and chase Alamy, the more likely they'll take it seriously enough to make some changes to the reporting system.
