I shipped drives to them in 2012. Had a couple of initial sales. Nothing since.

Posting a hard drive is sensible. It can take forever to upload thousands of HD clips. I just wish they let us all send in our hard drives, so they could be competitive with other sites. They rejected my application, I could apply again but it isn't worth it if they have a collection that isn't attractive to buyers and they aren't selling enough clips.

Yes, having the option is sensible. But having it as the ONLY option is not sensible in 2016. I'd rather not post anything at all, ever. I, like many videographers, have a fast internet connection and don't mind sending 100 GB of footage in a day.

Yeah, 10,000 clips and a 256kb upload speed isn't outside the realms of possibility... and if I'm not mistaken, that would take five years if each clip is 500Mb.

Even of you've got 1,000 clips and ten times the upload speed, that's still a lot of time hanging around waiting for stuff to upload. Hard drives make sense in certain circumstances.

Agree that it shouldn't be the only option though.

I think it depends on your current location. It took me about 2 weeks and $4 of internet access fee to upload 900 mostly HD and some 4K clips to several agencies. Russian post is some kind of a lottery to deal with and that hard drive would surely not even arrive in Alamy in 2 weeks.

Yes, but to be honest I very much like this barrier now as I happen to have a very fast internet connection. This prevents the incredible over-saturation like on the image side. As soon as everyone has 100mbit upload speed the footage world will suffer.
