Topic: Watermarks... not there?

I may have seen this before, but I don't remember (too many sites...), but trying a search tonight at Alamy I could not see watermarks in their images.

Is it correct?  No watermarks?

Maybe I signed up too early...   Undecided

Regards,
Adelaide

No watermarks but I had an email about them introducing watermarks for the larger preview images.

I guess I'll wait to upload there.  Or maybe I'll send the first submission lot only.

I was just checking out Alamy and was researching some pictures.  I clicked on a thumnail which brought me to that photo's specific page. Then I noticed it said "to download comp, right click picture and save as"  which I tried just to see what would happen. It downloaded the picture on my harddrive! (which I have now deleted). So, there's no watermark, and I was able to capture an image right off of their sight.  I haven't tried this with any of the other stock photography sites, but I don't want anyone stealing my images.

Has anyone ever noticed this issue with Alamy, or any of the other stock photography sites?

BTW I don't know how large the file was that downloaded.

Natalie,

This is exactly what this thread is about.  No watermarks in Alamy.  There are sites like this.  I could understand that if images were only visible to traditional clients who are likely not to abuse, but open to the Internet?  Of course the serious buyer won't risk using them,  but many people would.

And although watermarks don't offer complete guarantee, at least they make life more difficult.

Adelaide

I couldn't agree more. They should have classic, regular , good, old fashion watermarks.
