Seems very quiet over in Albumo - has anybody got anything to shout about from there?

A handful of sales, but it doesn't appear there's been the promised marketing push and communications with contributors have been non-existent since late last year.

Still around... so, I guess it's a good news!  Anyways, I think many of you expect sky rocketing sales; well, let me disappoint you -- ain't gonna happen over night, BUT... we're working on it, and YES we are spending tons of money on promoting your art.  We will spend even more, but I can reassure you, you won't see numbers like at iStock or Shutter over couple of months.  Give us a little bit more time, and then judge us.

The Good News -- Albumo is around for Good, and we are not planning on selling the company (not b/c we didn't get any sweet deal proposals, but simply b/c we believe in what we do).

Thanks for your hard work, we appreciate every bit of it!

Cheers,

Co-founder,
Maxim Basaraba

Thanks for replying here.  If you are spending tons of money I hope you are using it in the right places.  All the sites that have good sales seem to advertise in the design magazines.  Those with poor sales have tried other methods and failed.  I don't think getting buyers to the site is rocket science.

I just came across for a web ad for Albumo a few days ago.  Darned if I can remember where...but I did see one.

Keep us up to date Albumo.   Cool

Nice to hear from you, and I'm glad to hear that Albumo's in it for the long haul.

The point of comparison (and I think it's a fair one) would be Fotolia, not iStock or Shutterstock.

When Fotolia started, iStock and Shutterstock were dominant players and in less than a year, Fotolia went from a dribble of sales (one or two a day for me) to generating a reasonable monthly return on a decent size portfolio. Recently a number of folks have seen them be the number 1 monthly earner.

I haven't (yet) seen the trickle of sales start at Albumo (I think it's a total of 5 sales on a portfolio of about 1600 images) and it's been several months since I uploaded (last fall, I think?).

well, let me disappoint you

Gotta admit, you came through with flying colors with that one.  Perhaps you could allow us to delete our images at a rate greater than 1 per day?

I am getting a steady turn over at Albumo, they are far from my best seller but I just made another payout with them and the upload is very easy. I hope that they are around for a while to come.

sales trickle along for me.

a couple of weeks ago I noticed one of my images in the last sales, went bback about 14 hours later and it had moved from last downloaded to 3rd last downloaded. I thought wow sales are really slow! then discovered it had sold twice Smiley

everytime I go to the site it seems to be one of dolgachovs images in the last sales  he would be the one to ask Smiley

I can't get anything to work on the site this morning - my daily routine to log on and delete one image.

First I got a long XML error when I tried to log on. I reloaded the main page and tried again, and it worked.

Then I tried to go to the "Sell" section to get to my portfolio and got an error that the page was unavailable or access was denied.

I guess that's one way to stop people from deleting their one a day Smiley

Is the site misbheaving for anyone else? I use Firefox Mac, but tried IE7 on XP and couldn't even get to the front page to log in (Page not found/access denied)

this just in:

the site sucks

the only reason its still around is because the operators aren't smart enough to realize their venture is dead and that they can't compete

jsnover, that happened to me once (maybe 3 weeks ago?) when I was on my daily delete ritual.  I wondered the same (especially since I blogged about leaving the night before).  It worked the following day though.

I just went in to delete my one a day too and found the same problems.  I was, however, able to get in and delete one.  The home page came up with the errors you mentioned, so I clicked on login.  I was able to login and get to my portfolio.  When I clicked to delete the image, I got a big XML error.  I cleared it and tried again.  I think it took three attempts, but the image finally deleted.

You know how some sites have a "10,200" images approved today... would be interesting to see their stats posted "1240 images deleted today"!   (one at a time!)  Cheesy

They deserve whatever bad karma is coming their way Smiley

I only uploaded a few dozen as a test a few months back and had zero sales. I just finished the one-a-day deletion and it sounds like I got to zero right before the implosion.
