I'm having a big BME there. Seeing daily sales this month. It's a weird month for me as Veer and Bigstock make about the same as IS now (thanks to the nosediving of IS).

I don't know if they have had a best match shift or something as I was thinking about starting a thread as sales are so bad for me there this month.  Worse month since March 2011 and I am on track to earn half what I did last September.

This thread belongs under Bigstock's own forum, but yes, the bit I make per month there actually doubled for me this month as well.

I didn't even know they had a forum. As for my month at BigStock, it was WAY down, then suddenly I got my BDE ever there yesterday. Something unusual must be going on.

They might be vaguely up for me over the last few months, but nothing dramatic (or that good).

Making sales but nothing special.  I did notice something unusual, however.  My last two sales were NEW uploads.  My pattern at BS over 4 years has been that images seldom sell with less the six - 12 months in the  database.
Not sure that is meaningful ... just unusual.   :-\

not even 10$ so far this month, as usual disappointing, 280$ since April 2009 sums it up pretty well ;D

I was invited via bridge to BS and sales used to be really good but now its gone way down. I guess they like SS, changed their sort order and suddenly its just another low earner. Pitty.

I have almost 1200 vectors on BS and make $10-$15 per month, I really don't know why I still bother, but I do!

About the same -- 1300 images but less than $10 a month.

I really don't understand why this site under-performs so badly. I had high hopes when SS bought them. It hasn't turned into any real benefits, at least not with my port.

Still only 60% of what I got there in my BME about five years ago. A very unimpressive performance. I've even wondered recently whether having files transferred directly from SS could undermine their search ranking.

Bridge to BS. Yes I am beginning to wonder myself. Before the SS change to relevancy and then as they "say" back to popular, sales at BS were steady. Not so now.

My sales went up  when they moved the rest of my port over as previously I only had less than half my  port there. If you already had most of your port at BS when they did the bridge thing then you probably lost sales due to a lot more competition from people like myself that suddenly had their whole port there. I think that there were a lot of people that didn't even upload to BS before that had whole ports moved over.
My sales have taken a nose dive this month though which as so many people are reporting better sales then I'm guessing that there was a major best match change this month.

Hi there,
BigStock contributor since sometime August 2009.
Current port - 620 images or so.
Lifetime earnings - 287 dollars
Normally less than 10 dollars a month (sometimes less than 5 dollars)
But this month I agree with those who have had a BME.
I've had a BME too.
For some reason this month was very good for me.
It may well have been a fluke, but I will take it and hope it continues :)

Best,

August & September have been much better (not good, but August was twice July's earnings, so something shifted). I haven't uploaded there in many months as it seemed to be a waste of effort, but if this continues, I might finish putting my portfolio there

I don't think it is a case of BS starting to sell it is more a case of different people selling.  Sales have been pretty good for my since they passed my port over with the bridge system but this month my sales have tanked.

I've made a payout there of $30 for the past two months and stand at $9.50 as I write - with only 400 images up. Before that, I'd average $10 a month.

Given this recent surge, BS has pushed my woeful earnings from FT of late into fifth place on my performance metric for Q3

Would not be surprised to seem them push new large enterprise sales account acquisitions toward BS.

Shutterstock's CEO Discusses Q4 2012 Results - Earnings Call Transcript
http://seekingalpha.com/article/1214061-shutterstock-s-ceo-discusses-q4-2012-results-earnings-call-transcript?page=2

'We finished the year with revenue of $169.6 million representing 41% growth over the prior year and we achieved this growth while delivering adjusted EBITDA of $34.9 million.

Alongside this outstanding financial performance we continued to make excellent progress on our three growth strategies, which are increased global penetration; emerging content types; and large enterprises. Lets spend a moment on each of these, starting with global penetration.

Given that we represent a small portion of a multi-billion dollar market for commercial imagery, we continue to focus on aggressive customer acquisition. While we have seen strong growth in all major territories we have placed a particular emphasis on the international localization and marketing.

snip

Finally, as our third area of strategic focus we continue to expand our direct sales effort to large enterprises. As you may recall, over 70% of Fortune 500 companies already have at least one Shutterstock user account. However, the amount that these companies are spending with us is still just a small fraction of their overall spend.

Our direct sales team continued to make impressive progress in Q4, closing key master service agreements with large agencies and publishers and steadily growing direct sales revenue. Were excited about the progress we have made with large enterprises during the quarter and look forward to expanding our relationship with these larger companies over time.'

Totally in awe at the pitiful sales resulting at bs. I am at $2-3 bucks right now for march and all but one 50 cent sale are 38 cent subs.  but as usual they make the stupid claim that "we expect sales to go way up" but they fail to say "for Bigstock, not the contributor"

I've had a significant uptick in sales over the past two days.  Only one $0.25 sale, a number of $0.50 sales and several $1.00 and $2.00 sales.  There was one odd-ball sale, however, for $0.30 for something called a "Bigstock Partner Basic".  I've not seen this term before, but can only assume it was from one of their partner sites, although I have no idea which one.

If your portfolio on CanStockPhoto Is Representative of your work, you will struggle to get more sales across all agencies.

Speaking for me- I sure wouldn't want CanStockPhoto being my Representative of my stuff since they take almost anything.  I have gone in there an removed a lot of my older images that I am embarrassed to say I did just a few years ago. I might go in there this weekend to do more cleaning. I consider SS, GL and iStock a much better rep for my images for folks to look at  ;)

Based on its acceptance policy Canstock was my nr. 1 for a long time when I started. Funny enough, some of that old stuff of mine still sell, so I will just let it be  ;)
@ Dan - Just keep on going - sales will grow as your approved images increase (even if the quality stays the same, because with the few you have you actually do sell). Quality will come in with gained experience and then sales ratio will speed up against your portfolio size. So, just keep going  :)

SO get a minus for being honest, but blowing smoke gets the plus. I know the images on CanStockPhoto, and those are not going to help him get sales. If he wants sales he needs to up his game. I am just being honest, and its to help him not burn him down. Yet telling someone what he wants to hear instead of what he needs to hear is fine. I thought this business was about making money and not about being nice. Whatever. My voting rights have been revoked, but I get minussed all the time for being honest and telling how it is. Strange world.

"Telling it like it is" = through your eyes. Guess you started out with all A-grade images, competing with the best in the industry right? Did people constantly put you down and told you how feeble your efforts are as well?

There are ways and ways to give criticism, the one builds up, the other breaks down. You had the choice to PM him with your "telling it like it is" and not insult his work in open forum. Heck, you might actually have given him some pointers.

A few months back you where a nice enough guy around and I enjoyed your comments, but it seems like recent developments in the industry is over stressing you or something. Maybe you should also consider a bit of time out. Will love to have the old Poncke back.....

Yeah, same for you, when you starting laughing at someones death.

Anyhoo, I was fairly decent in my comment, just mentioned IF his images on CanStockPhoto were representative of his work, he would struggle to pick up sales. I struggle to pick up sales, and my images have straight horizons.

And yes I have received massive amounts of harsh critique, only to get better. It drove me bonkers, and I am still subject of harsh critiques.

I have also once gave him very specific critique on his images, which seem to have gone into thin air. He reports poor sales, but if you dont take critique and work on improving images, you can keep reporting poor sales till you kick the bucket.

I am still the same person
Cheers.

I don't mine some harsh comments to get better but the other day I had someone called me an "FA" (not by anyone here) and I told enough is enough!  I remember my photos from a trip to Hawaii - all my horizons were way off! I must have been drunk! I found a few good articles on making them straight and I don't drink as much when shooting lol!
