Question for BigStock submitters... Do you activate "Sell the right" in DT? If yes, how do you deal with the 90-day non-removal of image policy of BigStock?

I stopped submitting to BigStock due to this issue, but I realise that I may be missing up to 5% income...

I truly hate such restriction on our own images and I don't find that policies fair at all.having said that I keep uploading to the two as you mention I don't want to loose potential earnings as they are both considerably good earners.
as for your question selling rights of an image doesn't happen very often never happened to me) so I don't pay much attention to that but still it sounds very risky to offer rights of an image which is under restriction.

almost all other sites allows to delete  your  files any time you like  why can't they do the same.

I don't like the restrictions, and I wouldn't sell the rights to my images at DT, however, I don't think you will have a problem with BigStock if you want to remove one image and have a specific reason.

Last summer I wanted to sell one of my travel images via Alamy/Photoshelter and it had already been uploaded to a couple of sites (never sold). I wrote to BigStock support and asked them to remove it and they did (within a day).

The problem you face is that I think DT has a time limit on how quickly you have to have the image gone from everywhere else if you sell the rights, and you can't guarantee that BigStock will always act that quickly (even though they probably would).

hello Abey and welcome!

for my 2 cents... you might try thinking about your images and where you want to place them before you upload.   Separate your RM, RF (macro) and your micro images.    Images you don't mind loosing (that's complete control) send them to micro.   If you think there is a slim chance they could go further... then never place them in micro.  Instead find an alternative RF distributor that puts a higher value ($$) on the image and allows for more control.

as I said, my 2 cents worth.   Enjoy the ride.

I haven't set anything as SR in DT, but you can wait the 90-day period in BigStock and then set the image for SR in DT. Then, in case you sell it, you delete it from BigStock and anywhere else. I think you don't need BigStock staff to delere or at least disable an older image, do you?

Adelaide

It is not a problem to remove a single image at BigStock if you sell the rights to it anywhere. I remember Dawn or Tim saying they would do that for contributers. The policy was originally put in place to discourage people from uploading and removing photos without giving them time to sell. They pay reviewers for each photo so they want you to allow the photo some time to sell before you remove it from the site. They are flexible when it comes to something like this.

Hi,

It just happened to me that I had to remove one image from my portfolio yesterday, I wanted to send it for a competition and needed  to reclaim full rights in case of anything, so I tried to get it deleted from all stock folios.

BigStock reacted immediately, no problem at all.

Crestock is another story, they still keep me waiting.

had the image been on BS longer than  3 months?

My experience with Crestock was different once I had to delete a photo
they deleted the file  almost  instantly however  I still think we should be given right to remove them by ourselfeves.

I know the reason behind this restriction but I Why  would anyone would remove an approved image if there isn't a good reason to do so?
