sales are slowly increasing for me; not bad, but it's due mainly - I guess - to a larger portfolio; I'm still unable to see a clear positive shutterstock effect unfortunately

I can't do a nice chart like that but I have thousands of files there and I can see clearly that the site peaked in late 2008 and appears to be in its death throes now. My cash earnings are right back to where they were at the beginning of 2006, when I had been there for three or four months and had only a few hundred photos available.

OK, it makes no sense to do any statistics on small numbers and over a short period of time because of the sample error being much larger than any effect. You also have to weigh sales against portfolio size.

I'm uploading on BigStock since August 2005 and I made an analysis from begin 2006 till now. Since my full port is on BigStock (almost no rejections) and the current # is somewhat over 1200, I figure that a sales analysis over time can smooth out part of the sample error and indicate trends (if any).

I plotted earnings per month (blue line) against estimated portfolio size (pink line), and I did a moving average smoothing on the earnings (yellow line). This is the result:

Notwithstanding the large fluctuations that are inherent to small number of sales on BigStock in general, one can see two trends. The first one till March 2008 (included) that roughly follows port size, and a breakdown after that.

There is a deep dip in Q4 of 2008, most probably reflecting the outbreak of the credit crunch, but the trend already reversed near the end of Q1/2008.

After a weak rebound in Q1/2009 (just continuing the downward trend), the trend goes down and down till now, despite portfolio increase. It's an educated guess that around that time T&D entered into the red zone and started looking for a buyer before the potential (and the price) of BigStock went too low.

The fact that SS owns the site for a few months doesn't seem to have any effect on the BigStock sales till now. Thanks for your attention.

Even though I had not uploaded to BigStock since July or Aug, I had a stellar December - record month for there. But January sucked, and haven't looked at Feb yet. Port there is about 700 I think.

I've seen a definite increase in sales over the past week.  Probably the best week in three months.  I hope it continues!

I can't do a nice chart like that
I didn't know too before this, but I just discovered some essentials of Excel. On your earnings page at the bottom is a 2-column list of month/year and earnings during that month. Just copy it on the system clipboard from the browser and paste it in the Excel spreadsheet. It will put itself in 2 columns. Then add a chart and define the graph type; for the x-axis define the data source to be the column with the month/dates, for the y-axis do the same, selecting that column in your spreadsheet. For the statistics (like regression line or smoothing) just define the "function" type in the menu.

Not to start a new thread, since April last year I only have 0.50 and 1.00 earnings. Gone are the 2.00s and 3.00s that enticed us months before that.  Have you been suffering that too?

Up until very recently, BS seemed to be slowly dying for me, my earnings during the last four months were all down from previous years. Things were looking pretty bleak and I thought BS was dying before my eyes. But this past week downloads have picked up significantly, and I'm thinking maybe there's hope for BS after all.

My question was not about dld numbers, but about the higher value sales.

All mine have been .50 or 1.00. The last time I made a 2.00 or 3.00 sale was back in November of last year. It's been rather slow there lately

I had a $2 download on Feb 19th.  The one before that was on the 1st.  I had seven in January, plus two $3 downloads.

Although dls are generally down there for me, I have held steady on earnings because of an increase in 2$ and 3$ commissions.

Quite the opposite for me as my sales decreased  by 50% for the several  months.I suspect the reason for that could be that their search seems to favour my older files  which are not as good as my latest ones,it's so frustrating >:(,I am not sure if I'll keep uploading.

I had two 2$ sales in January and a 3$ sale in February, the rest are .50$ and 1$. Portfolio around 1250 images.

Just a small portfolio of 385 images.  This month 2 x $.50, 1 x $1.00 and 1 x $3.00, this is not unusual with my port at this site.

My question was not about dld numbers, but about the higher value sales.

I've had five $2 sales in my last 50, the rest were pretty evenly split between 50c and $1. That seems to be the same as in the past. $3 sales are are almost as rare as hen's teeth.

I've had five downloads this month ... one was for $3.  The others were 50 cents and one dollar.
It's slow but I will stop complaining ... for now.   :P

I have never gotten a lot of the $2 and $3 sales, but I am getting about the same as always.  Two out of my last 50 sales.

12 of my last 50 have been $2 and $3 sales which is a much higher ratio than I am used to getting.

Looking over my Feb. numbers BigStock and FT doubled in downloads. BigStock also doubled the previous month for royalties. With this they managed to knock DT down to 5th place.

When this thread was started I hadn't seen any increase in sales at BigStock.

But the past week or so since the site redesign my daily sales totals have been roughly double what they were.   Have they been doing a big advertising push or something, or did I just finally get a break in the search results?

You must be getting my sales, because this month I only had one sale there.   ;D

I had seen a definite increase a couple of weeks before the site redesign, but since then my sales have increased even more.  I don't know what's going on, but I hope it continues.
