Hi
Is there anyone else who noticed a changed review of editorial images? I never used to get rejections with my editorial images. Now all most every image is rejected due to wrong editorial caption. It always say that the caption must be a accurate description of whats going on in the image and must answer the usual questions Who, What, Were, When, Way and (How).
I keep trying to correct the images and upload them again. I DO describe the scene in the image but often get them in return once more........frustrating.

How do you write the caption to your editorial images? Long detailed caption? Or do you keep it very short? What about the title?

Annoying  >:( :( :-\

Show an example of what gets rejected.

The same captions I use for SS are accepted by BS.

SS has a limit of 200 character so you really have to keep it short. At SS all my editorials get accepted but not Bigstock. The only difference is that I write a whole lot more at Bigstock.

For example, an image of Liberty Bridge in Budapest:https://www.shutterstock.com/image-photo/steel-bridge-budapest-hungary-september-27-730888210

Accepted at SS but rejected by Bigstock. This is a very short caption. Uploaded to Bigstock I was more precise with more details but still rejected a second time.

I've always done the same for both....the last lot I submitted was couple of weeks ago all went through and my descriptions were pretty concise,

Your description:
Steel bridge Budapest, Hungary - September 27, 2017: Liberty bridge in Budapest, people in cars waiting in line due to traffic lights. Tram tracks and glimpse of the Gellert building in the background

I'm surprised SS accepted that description - it's not to format. The phrase 'Steel Bridge' in front of the destination is wrong:

This is the correct format: and reworded a bit. (although they are pretty lax on the 'all caps' part.)
BUDAPEST, HUNGARY - SEPTEMBER 27, 2017: Liberty Bridge in Budapest. Traffic on the iconic bridge with a glimpse of the Gellert building and city skyline in the background.

This may be a stupid question but do I need to put a title above the caption? In the image of the bridge the words "steel bridge" was a title. It was that short due to only 200 characters.....
At Istock you have a separate field for the title but at SS and BS you only have one.

I had a few rejected, I made the correction and most of them went through. They need an exact description of what the image describes. I have seen quite a few editorials on SS splashed with a vague description. Lately I upload mainly Editorials and takes a bit of exercise go get those descriptions right. I see an equal acceptance on SS-BS of images. I think it depends also on the theme of the photos, how many they have on file already and where is taken. Although I'm not sure if there is any cross-reference done of that in the reviewing process. Also if you slap a whole batch with the same description might be refused too, needs some variation even if it's the same event..

At Istock you have a separate field for the title but at SS and BS you only have one.

If you are entering the fields manually at each site some will have a space for title but SS & BS don't. So you do not need to enter one.

You should consider embedding the meta data in the image so you only have to do it once. The info will carry over each time you upload to a site. I do it in Photoshop or Bridge.
You can do it in Lightroom and there are other stand alone programs you can use to do this.

Well thats what I have been doing wrong I think. I assume the same criteria as Istock at ESP. They also require a much more extensive caption description. I do embed the metadata in my images in Lightroom.
I can understand if they complain about grammar. English is not my native language, Im from Sweden.
