I take what they are trying to say on Canon US site is that :with the new canon DSLR you could even take photos in moon light

It does sound like something revolutionary is coming. They did not do this when the 50D came out. I am looking forward to it.

i find it intriguing that they hide the name of the camera on both ads. Perhaps because there is more than one? perhaps just to draw it out a little longer?

The n°1 French Magazine "chasseur d'images" has just given some specifications of the new eos 5D :

Price: 2600€
24x36 captor 24Mpx
New design and aluminum body
new battery
Live view + Video mode
digic IV (of course)

wow.. if those are the real specs what is the 1Ds mark III supposed to do, or is there a new one of those coming out too? ... unlikely as the new one isn't that old. Which makes me glad I didn't splurge for the mark III if a 24mp 5D is coming out very soon.

There are some rumors that the next version of the 1Ds will be a medium format body.

A slight correction : they talk about a new and lighter magnesium alloy chassis (IIRC, the current 5D has an aluminium chassis + magnesium body)

sounds great if the specs are really official,but the expected price tag is a bit higher than my budget(oh well I might push it a bit)

hopefully all will be clearer soon but 24mp with video future I'd just say wow!

i merged the running 5D thread with this one. The specs must be getting fairly confirmed but it hasn't been announced yet, so it isn't 100% FOR SURE. A mag. is pretty reliable, but then again so are some websites... the MP change every day it seems

I think anything under 24mp for the new 5d will let Sony join the Nikon-Canon kingdom.
Lets see what happen.

This is pretty exciting if true. 24mp in a compact, 5D-like body would be my ideal. Couldn't care less about video or even live view.

All I need is high mp, low noise, and good dynamic range, in a body that won't send me to the chiropractor

the image on the moon page seems a lit bit clearer now but it doesn't reveal enough yet btw some part of the image looks a little over exposed to me:) so that should mean you could even over expose with the moon light:)

one thing is certain - it does not have built in flash. so it is not 50D
