Hey that is almost exactly like  me.

Perhaps it is the quad core Q6600
same ram, HD, etc Smiley

Motherboard is actually also important - a computer can only go as fast as it's slowest parts.
Anyhow, yeah, it didn't seem to be a problem.  The tiff's saved fine, heavy filters rendered in a few seconds.

A good test of your computer speed is this one

Perhaps we should start a new thread on computer speeds, and what is good specs.

has anyone figured out if we can use the same battery with this camera.

it says it is a new battery, but it is the same physical size - just more mAh (400 more) and the batteries also give more info to the camera.

I'm really hoping that there is another camera (7D perhaps?) because the fps is too low.  I really couldn't care less about movie mode because if I wanted a video camera, I would buy one.

I'm also interested in seeing what the autofocus is like.  I'm in the market for a new camera and I'm torn between a 1D MK3 and the new 5D.  I would love the new 5D but I'm not sure if the 3.9 fps will be able to kick it for sports shots.

However I would really want the full frame.  Wow, unless they come out with a new camera, I don't know what to choose.

23 sec here... (quad core 6600 @ 3,15 ghz , 8 gigabytes overclocked cas latency 4 RAM, 10k os drive (wd raptor), CS3 swap disc 512gb samsung spinpoint (old generation), work drive 1tb samsung spinpoint (latest generation)). Vista 64 bit and Cs3 10.0 (no upgrades).

Writing speed should be faster. It is not a problem at the moment but will be problem with 21 megapixels files (e.g. saving takes nearly a minute (images with lots of layers).

Wow.
Which is the difference in your opinion of that speed? the 64 bit OS?

I think the main difference for non-optimized q6600 system will be higher clock speed ( default is 2,4 ghz if I remember correctly), higher RAM clock speed. Photoshop have 3,2gb of memory, but the system has rest (over 4,5gb) and windows is not need swap anything since there is a lot of free memory left and photoshop swap file routines can utilize some of that memory indirectly even if the photoshop main process is not able to see more than 3,2gb of memory... 64 bit os will help because it allows more memory on the system. Still waiting the 64 bit photoshop.. Lightroom 64bit is very fast if you are not making heavy local adjustments.

this is the most exciting thing i have seen from Canon and it is enough to keep me buying their stuff.

Now if I can only get rid of a 300D, a 30D, 2 kit lenses, a Sigma 10-20 DC EX, a Nikon D1 etc. etc. for about $1000 I will go the new model instead of buying the old model.

Wow, that's a heck of an upgrade over a 5D. They pulled out the bigs guns of releasing this one.

Sooo, I wonder how long it will be before Nikon releases a D700x with the 25MP FF Sony sensor.

There is a lot of chatter about from the engineers at Canon who state they have the technology to create a sensor that will blow all the opposition out the window. They claim they were held back from offering this on the 5DMKII in preference for more pixels.

So I guess the new IDs will be something out of this world.

which one do you think performing  better  at @6400 iso
canon 5d m2
http://www.flickr.com/photos/limens/2865518397/sizes/o/

nikon d3
http://www.flickr.com/photos/mureena/1829704306/sizes/o/

result of the canon seems better to me but  we don't know how much noise reduction filter was applied to it (the noise from  the new 5d seemed more film grainish  to me)

these are just early examples though still too early to judge

Canon keeps on impressing me. They seem to do almost everything right with their new releases. Good going!

Unfortunately I'm not making enough money on microstock to buy a 5D just yet...
