It looks like the old rumors of a Canon 7D have come out from the closet.

Do you honestly believe this? I think there won't be a 7D or 5D Mk3 for some 2 years from now on, at least.

I think there's room for a full frame cheapo, but I don't care.  My 5D2 is phenomenal and I love it

well it is coming from some pretty reliable sources this time.  I think it might be true.  If it has an on board flash it might be placed somewhere between the 5D mark II and the 50D which would make sense according to their naming scheme of the higher the number the 'cheaper' the camera.

sony will anounce the a850 a cheaper ff within the next week or so. Canon may want to release something to compete.

The denomination 7D would be a logical step from the 50D.  Remember that Canon had already a 60D many years ago and going into the range of the 80 or 90D would be a littlebit confusing vs Nikon

actually it was a D60 ;)  They also had a D30 but that didn't stop them from making a 30D

You're right!

And it amazes me how Canon and Nikon uses almost same denomination... One day one or the other will have to change his system...  Using the name 7D could be a (small) step in this direction!
