Hi,

I write a lot of questions but in the end we are sharing informations ... My question is about shooting with tripod, I am goind for 4 or 5 countries in europe starting by france and I heard that using tripod in france is not allowed !

It depends for what. If you hit old ladies with a 5kg Manfrotto, you could be beheaded and wind up in the bouillabaisse.

Paris isn't NYC, so read this. Or use Google.

Last time I was in Paris I only took a mini-tripod, but more recently in London, Baltic Countries and Lisbon I used a tripod without any problem.

I only don't have the patience to take it with me all the time, even considering it is very lightweight, so I tend to use it in night shots only.

10 minute limit, we are probably OK.

Tripod is ok in Italy, except inside (outside ok) some National Monuments and UNESCO site where you need specific permit and pay a "photography fee".

A one million dollar coverage is not that expensive. If someone gets hurt during one of your shoots especially if you work as a sole proprietor instead of Inc. or LCC you should have as much coverage as you can afford. The injured person can take away all your assets if they win the suit, your home and everything. Even if you win the case the law suit itself will set you back far more than several years of an insurance package will. If you are claiming this money and calling yourself a professional be very careful continuing without proper insurance. Very happy to see the changes in NY that will be a big help not having to attain permits.
