Anyone else just get this?

I completed it and it's asking questions about what Canon camera you have and then mostly about compact interchangeable lens cameras. I really hope Canon isn't just now checking into this.

I have a 5DMII plus a Panasonic GF-1 and love both. Panasonic and Olympus have owned this category for years. Sony is about to release the 24MP NEX-7. Nikon looks like they are about to release something. And Canon is sending out testing-the-waters surveys?

From what I understand the Tsunami in Japan destroyed a lot of Canon's manufacturing capabilities and has set them behind on production.  They apparently had suffered injuries at the Utsunomiya plant. 

Nikon had also been affected (Sendai Plant) and both were shut down indefinitely. 

When I was asking about 5D Mark III rumors at my camera store I was told not to hold my breath and that they were working to get caught up on production of existing gear. 

I just hope that everyone has had a full recovery from their injuries.  The devastation of that earthquake overwhelms me still.

Yes, very sad and unfortunate.

I'm not sure how this would cause them to appear to be 2-3 years behind on a CILC camera though. The survey would indicate they're just now investigating its viability. If they already had a CILC ready to go why would they be asking basic questions like "Do you have a Canon product and also a CILC", "How important is focus performance in a CILC" and "How important is image quality in a CILC", etc.

It sounds like Nikon is about to launch a CILC and Canon is doing surveys?

As far as Im concerned, the only Canon I would be interested in is an upgrade of the MII, to a MIII. My 5dMII, is actually on par and sometimes even better then my D3X, so I would gladly welcome an upgrade but not a compact.

The 14-45mm is actually decent for a kit-type lens but I love the 20mm f/1.7. I was going to buy additional glass for it but am holding off to see what Canon does.
