Just a week after Canon released their 120mp sensor they have a new fun announcement.  They have made the worlds largest (in physical size) sensor at ~20x20 cm which is 40x the size of a Canon 1Ds Mark III.  So the fun part is that it can capture 1/100th the amount of light compared to a regular DSLR.

I wonder if this is just Canon playing around or if they will ever make a medium format camera in the future?

Wow, crazy... That is one BIG sensor!

It would be great if they could develop something to match dynamic range of celluloid film instead of just packing more and more mega pixels. I was watching some diapositives lately... They were taken by an amateur photographer, but I didn't see a single one with blown out sky, or without details in shadow..
