Last time I tried to close my account at Canstock - it seems that you have to delete all of the images yourself - and you have to do it one by one - certainly not made easy!!

This must be something new. Others have reported that Canstock support deleted the accounts for them.

Have you tried contacting Duncan?

I closed my account at CanStock a month or so ago. I made my payment request, got the money and then site mailed Duncan to ask if he could please remove my images and close my account. He replied he'd do it in the evening to minimize disruption on the server, and that evening the account was closed.

I'm sure he'll do it for others if asked (and if it gets too tiresome, perhaps he'll implement a delete all images button

)

If you get paid every 6 months at Canstock, that suggests that you have at least 8 times my portfolio. Wink

I have gotten ONE payout in 4 yrs+ I have had roughly 80 images online since 2004 and finally hit $50 in January. I immediately took payout as I've only had one sale in 3 months - last one was Dec 20th!!

A handful of $ which I will forfeit.
I thought my images would do well there but I was wrong.

hmm, another one.
in the other forum, it was another stock photo company that does not allow you to close your account or delete your photos.
and they do not reply to your mails.

this certainly does not look very encouraging to photographers wanting to work in stock photography.

too many sharks out there in the water , like one of the members put it.
the fact is , it's too easy to start a company on the net, and just leave it.
imagine how many websites are run by the same scammer.

if you submit that many and get 50 dollars. i think i'd rather give my photos away for free. at least my photo credit is attached to my photos.

sorry you all got scammed. but at least, you've done a lot of others a great big favour.
look at that as good karma.

To manually delete your account, you have to remove your photos one by one.

Or as several people have posted here, you can open a support ticket and we'll do it for you. If you have a large portfolio, we may wait until the evening to do it to minimize server load.

Just open a ticket (if you haven't already), and your account will be closed within 24 hours.

To FotoKmys - please don't confuse canstock with the other site (albumo) that is not closing people's accounts or responding to customer service requests.

Canstock is a legitimate company which has been around for a number of years (more than the three I have been doing this anyway) and always been responsive to contributors. As evidenced by the fact that the site owner himself, Duncan, came on this forum to answer people's concerns.

If people are closing their accounts it has to do with a sales slowdown lately, not lack of customer service on Canstock's part.

FWIW they have a pretty extensive plan in place to increase traffic, so to those who are quitting, it might be worth hanging in there a bit longer. I have noticed some increase in sales the last couple of weeks.

i am contemplating for getting into stock photography, i have my own stock portfolio, very large, but it's only recently that i discovered there is a potential on the web.
but i got pretty discouraged when i googled to find quite a few forums complaining of certain stock photo services, that made me almost retract the idea.

but since i stumbled onto microstock to read your forum, i am beginning to gain a better perspective that , as one person who got stunk said, "too many sharks in the water, better not dive in. not worth the hassle".
but it's worth the time to check things out first
through forums like these, and hopefully we can avoid those sharks.

If someone is considering deletion of files manually - you can open several windows and work all of them in sequence. Worked for me Cheesy

(just closed my Canstock account - a bit sad event, but it was not paying for the bandwidth used). Maybe others have better luck there - didn't work for me.

Do tell more about this extensive plan to increase traffic...as I am considering dumping canstock as well. it makes only 1-2% of my stock income and has the most files on it of any site for me so not sure how it is ranked a 3 on this site, (sometimes I wonder about the rankings on this site) but that is another topic. Do You have any real details as to specifics, are are you talking about more advertising? if so where and when? Talk is cheap I have only seen my sales go down over the past three months there. Not every agency is for everyone.

I'm comfortably getting a monthly payout from Canstock so it's not only about Canstock's marketing efforts - it has also something to do with what kind of content you are uploading there.

I like canstock. One of the easiest uploads, very fast reviews, a high acceptance rate, growing sales and some higher priced fotosearch sales every now and then. Things have changed a lot since 2008.

Yeah, the resurrection of this thread gives me a chance to say something I have thought about posting. Canstock has been doing great for me! Grin

I have been doing microstock for 5 years and am happy with my 2010 revenues. But by far the fastest increase has been Canstock. My revenues there have almost been doubling month to month.

And I have had an opportunity to interact with Duncan and can say that it was pleasure and he is a class act.

I was almost going to delete my account at the time this thread was new. Now I am happy I didn't: earnings are decent and submission is easy, and everything's working fine there. Canstock truly deserves its position as "Middle Tier". Lisa's forecast was right.

Canstock is the sixth best earner for me, just after ClipartOf, and WAY better than bigstock and 123rf. Three to five times better in fact (maybe I'm just doing particularly bad at those sites)

It's been a while since I've had one of those $20+ sales, September I think, but there are loads of $2,5 and $5 vector sales coming from their own site now. A year ago 76% of my sales were $0,3 / $0,25 subscription and distribution subscription sales. Now that number is down to 28% and the rest are regular PPD's. Definitely the best surprise of 2010. And I love the 50% commission from regular downloads. It's just easy, fair and transparent -and no crap "you'll get 50% of each credit which for you means $1 but for us means $2, prices are the same in EUR, you'll still get paid in USD per credit though" to cover up for an effective commission of 20%. Looking forward to seeing where CanStockPhoto is headed in 2011!
