Hello all.

Can you give me one way?
What do you do during the collection of images prior to any sale. And how do you all keep your spirit that you believe that your picture can anyone buy? Maybe this is a silly question, but this is in my mind, and I want to present it in this forum.

Spend that time researching the market.  Figure out what sells for others, and what you can do better than anyone else.  If you can't improve on what others are uploading -- either by covering new subjects you believe are in demand, or offering a really unique take on subjects that are already covered -- you will be waiting a long time to see any sales.

Things to brainstorm:

- How can you create a unique style... how to create your "brand"

- What subjects are in the news... cutting edge technologies or concepts... that may not be already covered in microstock

- Look at the top selling images at the agencies and say, "I wouldn't do it THAT way... I would do it THIS way"
and see if your different approach to a subject that sells will make you stand out.

Depending on where you are in the scheme of things, there are a few alternatives:

Work.  Research.  Study.  Develop. Check Sales.
Work.  Research.  Study.  Develop. Check Sales.
Work.  Research.  Study.  Develop. Check Sales.

....and continue in this loop infinitely.  :)

Or:   Curl up in a ball of anxiety

Or:   Pull the suitcase from under the bed and count your millions of dollars.

I dont get the time to do anything, since sales are raining down all the time, every second of the day, honestly, its like watching a paranoid, schitzophrenic cash-register. Pugh!

You could join other sites, as far as I know you're the only exclusive at canstock.

Seriously, just keep working on, the sales will come.

With 34 images online I would learn to speak Norwegian and Maori, take part in courses of snowkiting, knitting, programming and welding. I would travel a lot.
After coming back home two or three years later I would check if I have my first 0.25.

Well, if the buyers can't find your photos, they will never buy them and you will be waiting very long.
I had a brief look at your portfolio. Your tiger illustration is very nice, but it doesn't have "tiger" in the keywords.
In fact, all the keywords for this image seem to be automatic keywords added by the site.
How should the buyers find your tiger?

Why are you on Canstock only? It's not the biggest site - while waiting for a sale there, you may try to build your port at other sites as well.

I'm not saying Canstock is not a good site - in fact, I have some sales there - but you need to be on Shutterstock and some other sites as well if you're serious about this business (if you're just waiting before trying the test, that's fine because it's getting serious lately).

You could always start a thread complaining of no sales.

You could always start a thread complaining of no sales.

It's usually entitled is blah blah agency alive? Then you get a thread where 50% say they are getting good sales and 50% say that the agency is dead and noone is any the clearer. Unless it's istock where for indies it's dead man walking.

Does 'buyer protection' cover injuries?  :)

It depends! Whether the injuries are considered positive or negative, as result...  ;)

Santosa, the link to Canstock from your web page link to the homepage of Canstock and not your portfolio (it only looks to you that way because you are automatically logged in when you visit the site). Ask Duncan of Cansock to help you with the link.
