Hello,

I am wondering if you guys do printing at home or you send/bring your stuff to a printing store.
How much is the price nowadays for a quality printer? Does it make sense?

I have an Epson Stylus Pro 4800.
It will do 17X22 in prints. The quality is top drawer.

I use it to print items for display and also for my book (portfolio).
I sometimes use it to make prints for clients.

Having said all that, when a client wants a large number of prints, I usually use White House Custom Color www.WHCC.com for that sort of thing. They have products that I cannot make, such as metallic prints and the prices are very reasonable.

I use an outside printer (Photobox in the UK). Their machine costs tens of thousands of dollars and produces much better results than any home printer no matter how much you spend. They are also much cheaper than I could buy the paper and ink for. I upload to them online and the pictures usually arrive the next day. In the unlikely event of any problems they will re-print them FOC with no questions asked.

I think it is only worth having your own specialist photo printer if you want to experiment with fancy papers or effects for fine art work. Even then you might find a more cost effective local service.

It really depends on what u want to do with the prints Simone !?  if it's just for u to look at, but not archive, then you'll get away with a cheap Epson !  I use a R300 and it's fine (very cheap) but if u want to sell them, then you'll need something much better
