Cnet has just done a review of the new Wacom tablet which is wireless
http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-10444313-1.html

personally, I don't think a wireless editing would prove very valuable to me.  The tablet I have sits on the desk all the time, but who knows.

Thanks for the link, Leaf. I can see where it might be good in some circumstances. Like if you want to put your feet up on your desk and draw and the cord just isn't long enough to go from computer/keyboard to you. Or you have a 40" monitor and can sit across the room and work.

I'm with you...I don't really need that function. I had a wireless keyboard and mouse for my Mac and I ended up going back to wired. I was forever replacing batteries...and yes, I had rechargeables. Still a pain. Plus every time you had to replace the batteries, sometimes they wouldn't reconnect to the computer without a bunch of hassle.

Sometimes cool is cool, but not so efficient.  Roll Eyes

What cclapper said. Except the batteries always go dead at 3AM Wink so I'm running around taking them out of something else so I can keep going. I left the wireless mouse on a computer that moved away.

For a tablet, maybe no wire would be a nice factor with the ability to move it anywhere or sit back from the computer. I'd have to own one first. Still a mouse guy but maybe this will open the marked for used tablets? Second hand is a fine place for me to get started.

I have no idea how this, the iPad, and the one starting with "k" work but wondered if it would be useful in the field ... reporting motor sports???  I think my doctor uses something like this for patient records?

You get a nice clean desk without a wire

I know there are soft keys and sliders on the tablet and you can configure the stylus to do crtl-click or whatever, but am I not the only one that has one hand on the pen and the other almost permanently hovering over the keyboard to press the next shortcut or modifier? the idea of moving away from the keyboard looks nice for someone drawing, but not for photo editing?

I will thank them for making it turn upside down and go lefty

yeah, I don't think I could get away from the keyboard.  I work the same as you - one hand with the pen on the tablet, the other over the keyboard shortcuts.  Not to mention having to jump back to the keyboard for keywording.
