Topic: For those impatient with Crestock

I was at the point of dropping out of this agency because of long waiting times  for evaluations, it has been weeks since submitting.  It seems I am not the only one . . .

From Crestock:

Please note that we are currently experiencing significant delays to our image inspections.

While we hope to return to normal as soon as possible, the waiting time the moment can unfortunately be up to four weeks.

We apologise in advance for the inconvenience and disappointment this will inevitably cause. Thanks for your patience in the meantime.

Haha, they have problems with everything, not just with image evaluations. On their forum are a lot of users complaining they didn't get their money and requested payouts weeks ago.

the only thing that's not a problem for them is rejecting! All images I submitted do very well on other agencies but were rejected by Crestock. One sale so far so no pay out problems but 202 files pending. I have some good selling Christmas images, will the be online by easter, if not rejected of course Huh Huh

I would gladly forget about them but sometimes, not very often, they send me an email about some stupid Chinese propaganda or image sold.

US$1.25 left to achieve payout, then I'll remove my portfolio.  Of course this may mean only 2010, but...

I may have to follow you madelaide, of the last 75 submitted only 3 taken . . . .  but for me to wait for a payout will strain my patience.  It may be too little to late.

Good luck getting paid.  I have three payouts pending.  The oldest is from Sept. 7th.

Lisa, that's a bit discouraging....I requested a payout earlier this week and I hope they pick up their payout processing speed a bit...

If they could kindly disappear from the market that would be very good news for photographers.
The buyers would move to better sites and the photographers would earn more for the same photos.
I can't understand why folks upload there, support them  Huh Undecided Tongue and then complain... Grin

Lisa,  Hello, is this still true? I mean if it is the case I see no reason to keep my portfolio there. I get so few sales and then not to get paid, that's too much.

Yes, Zeus, still true.  They owe me three payouts, the oldest of which is from Sept. 7.  When (if) they pay me I will definitely update here.

Meanwhile, to Tom, I agree with you they appear to be dead, but they weren't when I started there and until Sept. I was getting my payouts regularly.  So I see no hypocrisy in having uploaded there for over two years and now complaining when they don't pay me.

Maybe I am missing something, but what would be the point of complaining about a site one DOESN'T upload to ??

Agree with that lisa, there was and hopefully still is nothing wrong with crestock, I only have a problem with delayed payout - in fact I wouldn't mind waiting typical big business terms of three months provided that it was clear where I stood.

I think (I might be wrong) that a lot of photographers have a gripe with crestock because they only accept images that are nothing short of perfect, and hence most of their images are rejected (that includes most of mine too!). For me crestock stands out as the site where it's impossible to find any mediocre images, every image stands out, and I hope (and believe) that in the long-run that will work - think of the buyers.

I guess it's just psychology but it feels nicer to have 8 out of 10 images accepted and then have 6 of them deleted after a few years because they made 0 sales; at crestock you might have just 2 of them accepted in the first place and that can feel harsh, but in the end it's not much different. besides that recently fotolia have been doing the same to me - killing me with rejections!

I don't bother about rejections, but about making basically only subs sales.  I would gladly apply to a site with very strict inspection but with real sales.  Subscriptions are a joke.

I never signed up with Crestock after reading so many negative opinions about them.

Tight quality standards are fantastic as long as the agency pays reasonable prices for this quality. Supplying premium quality to an agency that pays some of the lowest rates in the industry and doesn't have a big turnover is simply economic illiteracy. Only possible in the crowdsourcing model, in the real world such business would not survive long because  it doesn't deserve to.

Yeah, it will sure work for the buyers  Grin , not for the photographers though.
As long as the agency doesn't set the prices too low, because they might not be able to cover the costs.
AFAIK Crestock is from Norway, I presume the costs of running a site there are relatively high, at least higher than in many other countries.
If you set the prices too low and don't have sufficient volume, it means you have a problem...

I don't know if that's the case with CS, but anything that will cause their customers to migrate to 123 or DT will be a positive development.
0.36 is better than 0.25.

Lisa, complaining about not being paid is fine and perfectly understandable, but it is also important to draw the conclusions.

I have been waiting forever to actually reach a pay out there so that I could close my account, and now it would seem I have to wait further to receive payment ? Roll Eyes

Only have a dozen or so Images there the reason being I stopped bothering as they were rejecting my best sellers from IS and SS Their inspection process seemed suspect to say the least so perhaps that is what they are addressing. Not worth the effort IMO
