I think I agree with some of what you are saying, and if you and others are rigtht, at some point, commissions will have to go up again to attract togs and then the ones who rode it out, who didnt depend on their stock income, will benefit. In my opinion. Thats a market mechanism. High supply, low commission, low supply, high commission.

Did they listen to the advice and changed it back?

No, the limit stays at 35 keywords.
They responded to my email, the main reason was to reduce keyword spamming and they know, that this solution is not ideal.

So I am going to continue with uploads, and some important keywords like "illustration" and "vector" will be automatically removed.
But I really cannot prepare separate set of keywords.

Thanks. But that doesnt help with key word spamming, does it? Thats like a bull in a china shop. Just cut 15 keywords and that will solve the problem. Any photo can be described in 10 keywords, so you can still spam with another 25.

As many people here mentioned no one is going to keyword specifically for crestock, and most keyword alphabetically. So i.e. if your photo is about a pond with water in a yard, you lose your key keywords.

Really?
I am so out in left field. It would never occur to me to keyword alphabetically: it would take me far too long.
"Let's, see, is there anything in the photo that begins with aa, ab, ac ..."
I just look at the photo and write down the main things in the photo. Is that too random? And many photos of the non-apple-isolated-on-white type definitely need more than ten keywords, even if you include keyword phrases, especially for detailled locations.
(I know DM can do sort keywords alphabetically after you've input them, but I don't use DM for uploading)
Alamy has the additional step of assigning keywords to essential keywords, main keywords, comprehensive keywords, which would be easy, but you have to balance the essential keywords against the number of letters allowed in that field (50), so tough if it's Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwyllllantysiliogogogoch station. Even 'Llanfairgogogoch' has used up 16 of your 50 letters! (wonder if people search on 'that Welsh village with the very long name').

I also have alphabetical keywords. I do them in a spreadsheet and "sort" them alphabetically during the process to easily show up duplicates for deletion.

Oh,right, I guess that would make sense if indie. I just kw directly on iStock and the system automatically highlights duplicated keywords. Just like DM, I couldn't be botherd with a two-tier system for one site, but yes, if submitting to several places it would make sense (though I'm sure I've read that there are sites other than Alamy which don't stem and don't cater for keyword phrases?)

Or you could just paste them into the Microstock keyword tool http://microstockgroup.com/tools/keywordcompare.html and it will delete duplicates automatically :)

I use lightroom to keyword and it sorts automatically on alphabet and removes all duplicates. Maybe I should not have said that most people keyword alphabetically, but I know a lot that do. And as said lightroom does it for me. I am not with crestock, but if I was, I would have a problem now. I would lose the lasts 15 keywords, which might be the most important ones.

Ow, as for Alamy, I have stopped uploading there as there keywording system is so tedious. I have 500 photos to upload, its too much work. Its ridiculous. Also, they need a MR for a toe, and I dont have them so I cant sell many photos there. They would need to be RM, but I am already selling them as RF so no go.
