I just signed up for cutcaster and should be bringing about 1000 files over there this week, my first batch of about 200 files is already up but I opted, by default, for no extended licensing. I couldn't find any info in the FAQ or TOS, except for a statement that said something like extended licenses could be used by buyers to limit whether these files were sold elsewhere. I am theoretically fine with that as long as the price is right but I would like to read the extended license agreement before allowing all of my files to be sold as such. Where can I find more info on this? Thanks

Don't worry you have to have sales in order to worry about extended licences.

I'm on CC as well and I didn't opt in for E.L.'s either for two reasons:
1. No specifics on what exactly the EL can be used for compared to regular RF
2. No options for a corresponding higher price for an E.L.

Yeah we haven't introduced the extended licensing or the terms yet but after being at Picturehouse yesterday and talking to a bunch of publishers we are going to be moving forward quickly on it. The terms will be similar to what other sites are doing but I want to get your feedback on the best way to offer it that is fair to everyone.

I have some questions that maybe you guys can help me with.

What is a fair price for an extended license?

Which sites have the best contracts for an extended license that you think is fair for both the seller and buyer?

What are the drawbacks of ELs?

Thanks for any help and answers. I am all ears.

iStock has a clear, informative system to explain the ELs you get there. It's one of the features of their site which is really well done IMO. The only problem I have had with their system is that I don't get enough ELs Wink

But when I get one I like how they tell me exactly what rights were sold, how much they charged, and how much I got paid. I just look at the list my ELs and click on each and a window opens which gives me the information.

It's been so long since I got an EL at SS that I don't remember how it works. Since they started ODs I have seen several people say that ELs have dried up. Maybe it's coincidence.

I think the best solution for growth is exactly EL, for pricing model like has Cutcaster...

lol, too true. On a day when I felt particularly generous I uploaded to CC, zym and yay. All doing very badly for me but cc is the one with zero sales. The other two at least got me one each!

@Microbius. Let's have a look at your portfolio and I can see how you are keywording and what types of images you have. I would love to help you keyword your images so they fit better into our search engine and give you some info on how people are searching that may be able to help you.

Also please remember that we are only 80 or 85k images so we are the youngest in the bunch and still having sales. I am here to help so let me know what I can do.

Anyone else have good info on how to offer ELs on the site? thanks
