..the past responses from DP representatives and threats they made to anyone exposing information about the connection to DepositFiles, it's all just too much.
Who has been threatened?  I must of missed that.  Please post some links if you have any.

I was made the "offer" Then I read about them and totally agree with Helix.  Not worth the future hassle and the 30 cent norm.

WOW. And the photographers can sell their XXXL-pictures (or eps-files) for 24 cent:

From the photographer terms page:

Quote
All photographers with large and high-quality portfolios automatically get VIP author status at Depositphotos, including top priority with image inspectors and higher positions in the site search results.

Seems kind of undefined, really. Like it's up to the discretion of DP to decide who gets VIP status. Meanwhile everyone else gets pushed further back in the search results.

Sales are much better than BS, last month better than CanStock. They have sent me money 4 or 5 days from my request. I can't complain so far.

I'm sure they did give a very convincing explanation to anyone who asked. The fact remains, however, that there are some pretty clear ties to the pirate site DepositFiles, regardless of whatever explanation management is willing to offer.

Everyone has to draw their own line in the sand somewhere. Mine is drawn here, and I won't do business with a company that was started on the heels of a site that actively enabled the piracy of images by some of the same artists they now represent, even if that companies shows growth and sales volume. I don't care if they become the next Shutterstock. I'm not interested in working with them.

That's just me. If everyone else is comfortable working with DP, that's fine as well. Best of luck to you, hope you make lots of money with them.

DepositFiles is NOT pirate site. This is FILE SHARING SERVICE, the same as Rapidshare and Dropbox, google docs and many many other. If you see pirate content on this sites - you can always send complain in support of this sites and pirate content will be deleted. Do not mislead peoples.

He isn´t misleading people, he is just talking about a serious issue and I guess a answer from DP here would be nice..

There are plenty of file sharing sites out there. Most operate fairly clean businesses, like DropBox.

DepositFiles and RapidShare are among the fringe that are known to turn a blind eye to piracy. They hide behind text on their site that says they honor any DMCA takedown request, but really they're knowingly enabling piracy.

The only people misleading anyone here are the folks behind DepositPhotos/DepositFiles.

What's the pricing structure there, I can't find it on the site, The only info you get under for photographers is that BS VIP programme. I've only come across the info that they pay 24c/sub, which is pathetic. Do you at least get raises on subs like on SS?

Laughed so hard I almost fell off my seat. 99% of the traffic on Rapidshare is stolen IP. These sites are the real pirate sites. The warez sites just gleam a bit of the cream from the top, just a front for the real crooks like Rapidshare etc.
As I've said before if you are Pawn Broker who's stock is 99% stolen goods, you're not a Pawn Broker anymore, you're just a fence. Simple.

Is there any real evidence that DepositPhotos are villains or is everyone just making assumptions because of the type of company they're possibly connected with?

Looking at DP's pricing structure, they don't look too bad.  One thing I don't like is subscription rates via SMS being less than normal subscriptions.

Reading this thread yesterday, it's difficult to make a decision on whether it's worth joining them because it's ruined with assumptions, accusations and a whole lot of paranoia about a company that's connected with another company.

Can anyone throw some real numbers at me?  If you have a fairly large portfolio, where does DP rank compared to the top sites?  I don't trust the figures on the side bar.

I don't really understand whats the big deal with depositphotos. If you are heavily involved in microstock you have already been giving your pictures to crooks anyway. FT, IS, f.e. their directors and many of their employees would be fleeing criminal charges in a properly regulated world, so whats the difference?
