With all of the hoopla over their affiliate programs ... the more important question to be asked is Who is currently having sales at DepositPhotos?
If there is a new world order and someone hasn't signed-up yet, here is my referral link:

We should always encourage new emerging microstock sites that have good prospect and fair policies for everyone involved as this is one of the few methods we have to go against sites that could or have grown to be greedy and unfair to their contributors. Lets put some balance to this industry, click on my referral link below and signed-up. Thank you

3 sales, 1 standard, 2 subs. Quite encouraging for a new site. I agree with cybernesco, we should support sites like this. However, most sites become greedy once they become popular. It's a shame but microstock agencies don't answer to anyone, so they do what they like.

Basically the philosophy of greedy agencies is "if you (contributors) don't like our policies go some place else, someone else will take your place". My philosophy on this is, if contributors are replaceable so are agencies. Denis

I agree, fair agencies should be supported, not just by giving them content but by removing your content from less fair and lower paying agencies.

Just had a credit sale for $3.00
-
5 sales with about 200 pictures online. It will be exciting to see what the future brings for Depositphoto :)

Stacey and I are both still awaiting our application approvals ... they must really be bogged down now with applications as people had said they had been approved in 24 hours. Its been over 48 hours for both of us.
Oh well ...we'll be in eventually ... patience :)

I have one sale 0,3 subs

I have had one sub sale for .30 so far. Did not figure on a sale for a few months.
I also got the $100 promotion, received the money 1 hour after I asked for it.
Going to be interesting to watch the growth of this site.
And now for the shamless promotion of my referral link.

I requested payout from DP 2/18 @ 11:21a.m. (EST). Notice sent from DP that my money had been transferred to PP 2/19 @ 1:50a.m. Received notice from PP that they had received the transfer 2/19 @ 1:50 a.m. That's not in an hour, but it's one of the fastest I've experienced (except for one I had from YAY a couple days ago that was almost instantaneous from the time I requested it).

I have had eight sales on Deposit photos, six of them subs and a large and extra large sale. I was paid very quickly for my initial upload. I am still uploading. I have had a few dodge rejections, for similar were they are not similar, and for faulty isolations on shots that are not isolations, but most shots are accepted quickly. Overall they have seemed very professional and upwardly mobile!

I've had two sales (of .30 each) out of a portfolio of around 260. Fearing the collapse of the promotional program, I grabbed my first $50.00 and it was paid pretty quickly.

-
I had two sales so far.
-
By Credits: 1
By Subscription: 7
So far
-
Sold my first one by SMS today but only $0.24 commission for large size. Not interested in selling for that, so they wont get much of my portfolio if those are going to be frequent.
-
5 sales (4sub, 1xs)
-
10 all subs
-
3 all subs
Hopefully once there download special at the buyers end is over, it will give us a better idea how well it is going to do.
-
160 images - 1 sale - 0.30 sub
Wow, 0.24 cent? That's how much we're getting for a sale via SMS?
Why is that?
Not good, but let's wait and see.
-
All three of mine have been for .30 each.
-
Only one sub there for me, but I have not uploaded much there.
-
by Credits: 5
by Subscription: 5
by SMS: 3
not too bad
-
Only one subscription with almost 600 online images.
-
With 36 images online I had my first sale yesterday.
I really have a good feeling that this site will make it. I'm not basing that on my single 30c sub sale, but a combination of their aggressive promotional strategies and the fact that they've already had at least 11000 sales (possibly 13000-15000)
-
I am not as positive. There seems to be lots of subs sales and they are giving away credits to the buyers, there are going to be downloads when they are effectively free. What will happen when they have to pay? I can't see them doing any better than pixmac at the moment.
-
1 sub sale yesterday 0.3cents
Hope many will follow .
I like this site so far -easy upload system
-very quick to edit images
-quick review times
-pretty fair rejections
-
Two $.30 sub sales. Most of my files haven't registered any views!
-
One .30 sale with 300 online.
Funny that a lot of submitters have just recently scored their first one or two sales. What does that mean, maybe that the site is starting to get traction . . . or . . . . . .
-
I like this site so far -easy upload system

-pretty fair rejections
My experience with the "pretty fair rejections" has been the complete opposite. Apparently, I got a reviewer that totally HATES abstract, fractals, or anything that looks like them. Also having other issues that make no sense with rejections. I only have a few that have been accepted and have pretty much put things on hold with them. Am trying to get things straightened out with admin, but so far I'm not that crazy about what I'm seeing. Just my two-cents' worth - for now.
-
I have had 33 sales total since the bulk upload of my portfolio in the beginning of January. They are not huge sales however. Most of them are for thirty cents, but I think they may be beating 123 which of course is not saying much...
-
Hi,
I have sale 133 files and also one of my files sales for EXTENDED EL4 and i make from this image $22.
This my portfolio:

I've had 5 sub sales so far with about 325 files.
-
I Have start to work with DP when they have only 100,000 files online and I have sale 133 images from my 1338 images online. also one of my file sale for EXTENDED EL4 for $50 and i make from this image $22.
Hope that the sales will grow up in the future.
Whet is the number of sales that you make and if some one sale EXTENDED License ?
This my portfolio:

www.talrevivo.com (http://www.talrevivo.com)
How many of those sales were $0.30 subs? I would be uploading more if they sold more for higher commissions, $0.30 subs don't motivate me.
-
I have had 1 sale so far for .44 I have a small portfolio there as I was uploading files and getting paid .20/file, but once they stopped the promotion, I stopped uploading. I was a totally frustrated that I had already been approved and then they took away my approval under the promotion.
-
Most for $0.30 u can see my statistic:
Sold Files: 133
By Credits: 8
By Subscription: 112
By SMS: 13

Just got my first non-subscription sale. DP knows how to take the joy out of even this small win; the email announces that I have a $2 sale, but that's what the customer paid. My earnings are 44% of that. Why not have the email tell me what I made, as Fotolia does? It wouldn't hurt quite so much that way.

I just got a Extended RF License of Fotolia and the email said $100, not the 31% I got.

You're right. It's only on subscription sales that Fotolia reports the commission. On regular sales they show the sale price. Guess it's been too long since I've seen one of those. :P

i just did the following as a test:
search keyword: "woman"
search result: "117453 files"
sort: downloads
for example the 8th picture has 7 views, the 20st picture has 4 views, etc.
this means that even the top sellers with this keyword didn't sell a lot...

What about an underwater scooter with lightboxes in an underwater house? ;)
On topic: I played it fair and gave them all recent stuff I had, not just the 500. They did a great job finding (near) duplicates. For now, I put them in hibernation and will log in once in a while to check. In September-October, it will be clear if they're going to make it. I wish them luck. They have a beautiful collection, so it's up to them now to make it all work.

2x 0.30 sales myself (146 pics online), aprox 20x 0.30 sales done by my referreals

1 sale @ 0.30...however, i keep seeing in this thread that the promotion was over, but i received promo $ this morning with image approvals.

And of course I congratulate to everyone!

Nope no sales yet hopefully it'll happen sooner than later. Congrats to those that have gotten sales.
-
Hi 2 subs (out of about 120 images)
-
One thing I thought was a bit sneaky if you select to order a popular search by downloads and click on the first image or any image.
It just tells you how many views not how many downloads (unlike FT, DT or BS would). So its impossible to see how many sales there actually are.
I hope they don't blow all their start up cash attracting suppliers and not have anything left for advertising to attract buyers.
-
Maybe this explains all these sub sales their 14 day free trial subscription

Watch this one climb in the rankings because of the link on the forum.
Was zero views when I added the link. Take a look at it now! :D
One month... 80 views and will soon be one of the most popular photos in the search.
-
I had my first sale at DP. A sub one (.30) ...
-Mark
-
1st month only 2 sub sales .. so far this month 14 sales .. 13 sub & 1 sms .. that's a far cry from competing with income from the other sites I'm uploading to but since we're talking about a completely brand new site it does make me think there's future potential for the company. I only uploaded 1000 images but I'll play along and upload the rest of my portfolio over the next couple months and see what happens.
-
I've had four sales....all of the same photo...but I am noticing the majority of sales everyone is having seem to be sub sales. My four were.
-
An extra sub sale today, oddly enough of an image that was rejected almost everywhere for LCV and boring composition. ???
-
8 more sales today
-
8 more sales today
Yuri Arcurs isn't there yet. :P
They have a great collection for now, but still limited. I was scouting end last week for a media issue about "senior health lifestyle couple" to appear in the weekend-edition. On DP, I only got half a page of search results. On DT I found 27 pages, and exactly the one I wanted for the article. A Yuri Arcurs shot, sigh... 3 credits only for a 800px portrait-oriented perfect shot that matches a newspaper column. I had the same fee just for finding it. Stock is crazy... ::)
-
two subscription sales from 219 files

so far have 1 subscription sale (from about 400 photos uploaded)

I got another sale just recently (my second one at DP). It was again photo with theme of Slovak High Tatra Mountains. License: L Subscription $0.30
If you want to take a look you are welcome. ;) Here it is:

At this moment Depositphotos is my no 3 for the month, behind Shutterstock and Dreamstime, but ahead of iStock, Fotolia, 123RF, Bigstock and Crestock.

Interesting to hear that, how much photos do you have online there? How much sales do you have? Can you show your portfolio? (If you dont mind of course ;) )
I got only 2 sales for now there. With portfolio of 292 photos. But on the other side I am not typical stock photographer I mean I shoot what I want (as hobby) and when I want I pick some of my photos and put them to microstock agencies.
-
I have a total of 9 sales with a total $$ of $2.56. 375 images online

I finally got my first sale this past week. A sub sale with less than 100 images online. Hope more is down the road :)

Congratulations to your sales! :)
Can I ask you something? What is the reason for deleting images after they dont sell? I mean it in general not just on DepositPhotos. Now and then I read someone saying that he/she will delete all his/her pictures if they dont sell. Why? For what can be that good for? If you spended some time by uploading, categorizing etc. why to delete them? Maybe they will not sell maybe they will. But as long as images are there, than there are still some chances, but if you delete them, than all chances to sell them are lost. It is better something (even possible/theoretical something :) ), than nothing. Isnt it ???
But never mind as I sayed before I am just hobby photographer, not "Big Stock Picture Factory" like skilled MicroStockers here. I take it mostly as hobby/fun and I am very happy from every sale.
During years I deleted some of my pictures from my portfolios too, but that was mostly for reason that I wasnt satisfied with their quality any more those were old photos that I shot many years ago.
-
^^^The problem is when you get a few sales but it will take years to reach a payout. That means the site makes money but you don't. If sites didn't have payout limits, I would be more inclined to leave my portfolio there.
-
Jareso-
First of all, thanks for the kind words about my underwater images. Second, the payout point is valid. Having a bunch of images on sites that will likely take forever to reach the payout amount isn't worth your time. I'm slowly closing accounts at low earning sites and sticking with the ones that make me more money. That being said, I'm still waiting on 2 sites to make the payout amount before I delete my account.

I've gotten shy after the debacle of Fotomind that closed doors, apparently just before they needed to pay out a number of contributors, having spent the money already. If fact, they have made money on my images, and I've got nothing. The same with Pixamba but the loss was just a few dollars.
Depositphotos on the other hand played a very fair game seting the payout limit under the upload bonus. They payed me promptly my 111$ and I returned the courtesy to upload more than double the amount of the minimum (500) images required for the full bonus. I also won't quit after the minimum of 6 months. They were fair, even if they won't sell a lot.
-
Agree with what Sharpshot said. After they have set on there awhile with no sales it's a waste of your time to even check the site. You might reach payout in the year 2020. In the mean time your sales just go into the pocket of the site because unless you reach payout you get nadda. And then there is the chance that you'll never get your money because the site dehydrates and dies.
-
For a while I had almost daily sales at DepositPhotos and I saw my name several times in Top 10 on the front page. But since one week or so - nothing. I'm not going to upload anymore there, until something happens. It's starting to look like a waste of time. I have over 3000 files with them.
-
Two sub sales=0.60 in 2 months with 275 files...I'll give them the 6 months agreed on, after that they better generate some sales or I'm out of there...I'm already contributing to two dead beat sites, I really don't need another one!!!
-
I just had my 2nd subscription sale at Deposit Photos on a portfolio of 277 files. I also see that my referrals have several sales as well ...

Been uploading there since the early days of the site.
250 files
4 sales - 3 subs (0.30 each) and 1 credit (1.10).
2 sales this week (including the credit sale).
I'm not going to stop uploading. It's easy and fast.
My problem is with the views. They're very, very few and take a long time.
But they're only newbies and I hope, in time, they can make it up there.
-
But they're only newbies and I hope, in time, they can make it up there.
They'll need a chance of one year at least. They just exited the grace period where credits were given for free to prospective buyers (or freebie hunters). We can assume they'll put an equally important financial effort to market the site, as they put into collecting images.
That effort can only be visible after the Western holiday period, earliest September-October, and there will obviously a lean period between the moment their free offerings run out and real sales take off. There is no reason yet to doubt DP. They have been very fair till now.
-
I've got 6 sales on there with a port of 392. All have been subs. Just waiting to see what happens like everyone else.
-
I also got some sales in my first month at deposit. I got sales almost every day. But now the sales are gone. Nothing!
I wonder if they give new photographers (not new images) an advantage in search placement to encourage them to upload more images

400 files online
17 sales total (14 sub - 3 regular) 9 in April.
As a buyer, I've purchased 23 in April for use on web projects. Cleanest / easiest site for buyers AND sellers...As FD said, they put their $$$ upfront so I'll hang out... ;)

> 500 online, got 4 subs first month, zip after that. I did/do not expect anything from them, got my bonus, will wait holding period and remove (unless they prove they are not a regular bubble)
During years I deleted some of my pictures from my portfolios too, but that was mostly for reason that I wasnt satisfied with their quality any more those were old photos that I shot many years ago.
re your ques to UG: I'm on a handful of micros now, since I left sites my small port didn't do much on. I don't like the idea of having images for sale somewhere I'm not getting payouts, esp. after a year+; plus it makes it easier to have some exclusive images where I actually get payouts.

1st sale a couple of days ago after 7 months submitting. $0.30 on a sub, woo hoo I think I'll buy a..a..a what can you buy for $0.30? But a sale is a sale and hopefully a sign of things to come.

hi all, i got a returned sales of -$0.30, it means it deducted my only subs sales and back to $0 now.
i wonder what is that? someone returned my images because they don't like it after bought it?

I am sorry to hear that
I never heard it happened on DP before. It can be whatever email support and we will see
Noone here can give you exact answer.

I uploaded 250 photos there in Feb this year and have been adding when I get a chance since then. Now up to 420.
Sales have been relatively consistent (numbers in downloads):
March: 17
April: 30
May: 22
June: 27
Will keep adding images and see if it grows...
-
Since February:
Portfolio: 688
Sales: 92
All 0.30$ subs or 0.24$ SMS sales
-
any improvement on sales? i notice there are credits plan instead of subscription plan that will pay more for images, anyone getting credits sales?
for subscription sales, does it match something like shutterstock?
-
^^^ Nothing like shutterstock, I did get a credit sale recently. They are doing quite well for a new site but I only really uploaded because they paid a bonus.
-
I finally got my first sale after nearly half a year...................................
-
I get a sell every now and then. Not a lot but I do get a random sell every now and then. What I mainly get are subscription sales. I've had a couple of credit sales and only one SMS sale. The ones that have sold are mainly the same ones over and over.
-
two small subs within the first week after approval of my application... Then relatively quied, judging by the number of views
-
I had yesterday 4 sms sales - but in total not too great at the moment. Keep fingers cross that the summer is over soon
-
My eight and ninth sale happened just now, one after another.
The Tatra Mountains in Summer 10/04/10 | Size: L | Subscription $0.30 (http://depositphotos.com/view_item.php?id=2392180&ref=1002040)
Waterfall in Kvacianska Valley 10/04/10 | Size: L | Subscription $0.30 (http://depositphotos.com/view_item.php?id=2409166&ref=1002040)
My portfolio size is 307 files online. I started uploading my files there in March this year.
-
online files: 350 and sold files: 24 in two months. i think they'll be better soon...
-
averaging 1-2 sales a day, about 80-85% are subs. credit sales have all been between $0.44 and $2.64 for my cut
-
DP seems very low traffic? low views and low sales and all the sales i got is 0.30.
I try to check out the commission faq..

If you're a photographer or an illustrator looking to make money on your work, you've come to the right place. DepositPhotos.com is the internet's highest paying photostock website you'll find!
why they claim they are the highest paying photostock website? while every sale is 0.30..once a while.
-
I calculated my average revenue and decided that I won't license my images under $0.50 any more. $0.29 was insultingly small average price. I deleted my images on Deposit Photos. Though I love the site environment. It's a beautiful site.
My one and only exception under $0.50 ($0.45 to be precise) is Shutterstock because of the volume.

2 sales, one of them by subscription, I'm member since 2 months ago

Still not sure of this site, considering their relation to the pirate site DepositFiles. Just seems strange that DepositPhotos is selling stock images, while an affiliated company (DepositFiles) enables pirates to illegally share and distribute our stock images. Not exactly the sort of companies I'd want to jump in bed with.
-
4 sub sales since they started= $1.20... :-\
Considering not to upload there anymore (unless, they start paying for uploads again...lol) not worth the trouble... ;)
-
so are these 2 company related? It doesn't sound good.

Yes - it does sound odd - and worrying.
A comment from Deposit Photos would be nice...
I wonder if this issue should also be put on a new thread rather than under 'Who has had sales' where it might get lost....?
-
so are these 2 company related? It doesn't sound good.
From what little I know about them, they are owned by the same parent company. Think of it like if (hypothetically) Hellman & Friedman owned a file sharing site. At the very least, it's a huge conflict of interest for a company to own a stock agency and a file sharing site that traffics pirated stock images.
-
deposit is my top earner...
...after SS, IS, FT, DT, 123, BS and CS... ::)
-

It has been discussed here before. Yes, they are related. If you do a search here you will likely come across the threads and can read all about it.
-
I think the original thread has been archived but you can track it down on Google, just do a search for "depositfiles depositphotos".
FD-regular did a lot of research into the links between the two.
They are run by the same couple of (dodgy?) guys. They came on the thread and they were evasive if not hostile.
I would 100% avoid this site like the plague.
You are basically supporting the people facilitating the theft of your work if you upload there.
ETA not actually archived, here it is:

gets interesting when they are asked anything specific about the company, phone numbers etc.
-
actually i had complained that i got few sales was 'returned', it happened as 2 sales out of 3 sales i had in the beginning. Their explanation is it can be happened such as a illegal credits card. But the fact is the images had been downloaded.
I didn't encounter in all other websites, so i will just say either their payment system is not secured or just a high percentage of buyers with stolen cards..
-

That's basically what I figured. They claim to be separate companies, but they have similar names and are funded by the same investor. Meaning, while this guy is pumping money into this new stock site on Monday, on Tuesday he's pumping money into the pirate site. Seems like a pretty severe conflict of interests. You can't play both sides of this thing. You either support the artists or you support the pirates.
-

One of the quotes from DepositPhotos:
I consider this fact slanting and racial prejudice of some persons who wrote here as a special-order event organized by either direct order or by their own silly initiative. We are entering the market and are ready for any attacks. I am asked to cashe all public accusations and slander from concrete persons with the possibility to further use of this material in court.
Are they seriously insinuating legal action against posters who question their integrity? I'm sure that would get far in court. Avoid this company like the plague.

10 sales in October, in November just 4. Vast majority is 0.30$ subs. After all the turmoil around the start-up, they seem to have fallen asleep. There is some moderate growth, so just wait and see before I resume uploading. ::)

Yes, worth it. I have arround 70% of my Profile there and 55 sales last month. Not much, but steady and growing.

Thanks Michael! 55/month is good for a low tier agency. :)

Hi Michael, out of those 55 sales last month, how many were subs?
-
I've had several payouts since joining last May 2010. The majority of sales are subs.
I think if you have a good sized portfolio it's worth uploading to DP.
-
I'm still having trouble with the piracy connection here. Much as I'm usually quick to get involved with any agency that shows some promise, I'm not sure I can look past my own personal moral objection to this one.

The numbers I gave are for one year, not six months. Time flies. DP has paid me about $5 per month. I'm not disappointed because i expected little. As I upload to the agents that pay hundreds per month, it is not a big deal to put DP into the mix. Same with Veer or Bigstock. How hard is it if you have the time? And some surprise. 123RF went from $20/month to an average of over $50 in the last four months. Crazy business, and I'm only 2.5 years into microstock, so I can't tell you much, just what's happened for me. Aloha.

Today I got an email saying that site "has a keen interested in the quality of your (my) work"...etc., etc.
And wanted me to upload "free".
Then there was these curious sentences:
To entice you into our collective, were prepared to guarantee higher
placement in our site search results for better product visibility and
higher sales volumes. Besides, we undertake image uploading for sale.
I wonder if that means they'll pay me to upload? I guess they've done that in the past. If not I suppose they will just give me better treatment than their old faithful contributors.
I pass.

They did do that in the beginning when they started out then they stopped I guess last July. Not sure if they're doing that again or not. That email does seem a bit odd though. I'd check the headers to make sure it's actually coming from them and not somewhere else.

sounds to me like (i think???) they want a collection of stuff to give away? The offer of a search boost is better than some offer in return for a "donate to free section"
if thats what it is i think i'd pass at deposits offer
it would help if it did not read like it came through babelfish.

What do you mean? Arenīt their search results based on popularity? That would obviously mean, that the popular stuff comes first and you have to either look further for "sepcial" stuff, or specify your search accordingly. Or is that not, what you meant?

Yuri, Dolgachov, Luba Nell are a few who are with them. I don't see anything dodgy.
They did offer cash incentives before for uploading but not anymore.
To be fair, I don't know exactly what the connection currently is between DepositPhotos and DepositFiles. But past info suggests a direct connection and some shady efforts to hide the actual location of the company. I struggle with the idea of doing business with a company that is or was in any way connected to another site that enabled the piracy of my work.
What really troubles me is the idea that these two sites could be more connected than we even know about. At the very least we know that they shared a common investor. So it stands to reason that someone profited from DepositFiles (which came before Photos), and then put some of their money into DepositPhotos which was (in part) used for these uploading incentives. In theory, money made from a piracy site could have been used to pay the victims of the piracy to upload their work to the new site. It's just a theory, of course, but not an unreasonable one.
Regardless, I'm not about to support someone who profits from the piracy of my images, even if it's in a roundabout way. On top of that, the company is represented by some extremely shady individuals who openly threatened people in this very forum for uncovering connections to DepositFiles.
So just because Yuri, Lev, Luba and others are on board, and just because the connection to DepositFiles is not as apparent as it was previously, that doesn't make DepositPhotos any more appealing to me now than in the past.
-
this DP issue keep on showing up.. it would be nice to hear from them
-
I think this is a more complicated ethical situation. Should we punish these people if they are operating a legitimate microstock site? Has DepositFiles done anything worse than hundreds of other sites that let people upload and download whatever they want?
I have no problems using napster now. I know some people wont use them because of what happened in the past but I would rather encourage them to become a more ethical business.
-
I guess I'm digging into a hornet's nest here but I did some research on the incorporation of them at
www.sunbiz.org (http://www.sunbiz.org)
If you enter the company's name in the documents search you will find documents (public records) that display the name of another company which filed the incorporation.
Most interestingly the filing company was incorporated one day before the agency was incorporated. ???
A bunch of Greek names pop up. Might be some buddies from Cyprus/Greece simply filing a company in Florida and that's it...
I'm feeling queezy.
-
Hi Luis :),
the story, as far as I know, is that Deposit Photos is somehow related to Deposit Files. Deposit Files is a free hosting/sharing site. People upload/download files on their servers, for free. Some of those files are illegal and some might even be stolen photos.
However Deposit Files' management is not breaking any laws.
The service is free and by law they are not required to check the source of every single file uploaded on their servers. In that sense, the site operates a bit like Flickr.
That has nothing at all to do with Deposit Photos, except that they share the same owner (? - possibly).
I understand that some of you might have doubts. Some might even refuse to upload on moral grounds. I respect that; after all, I'm doing it myself. I stopped uploading and deleted my port on IStock for the same reason. Moral grounds.
We see morality in many, many different ways, and that's fine.
In my view Deposit Photos is not to blame for the legality of some of the files uploaded on Deposit Files. And for now at least, they're certainly not stealing my images.
When it comes to Deposit Photos as a microstock agency, this is my experience :
- fast and easy upload
- fast and consistent reviewing (no more than 3 days, no surprise rejections)
- fast and reliable payouts (around 4 days, or faster)

What about sales?
This is where the good news come.
Deposit Photos is one site that in my case is experiencing a constant growth. Over the past few months, constant, real growth. Yesterday for example, (Sunday), I didn't have any sales at Fotolia, 123, Veer or BigStock. I had one at DepositPhotos. A sub, unfortunately. But I also sold ELs over there.
All in all, I would definitely recommend the site. It's going in the right way.
But be aware, a lot of the sales (more than half in my case) are subs - 0.30 cent.
Good luck :)
-
Hi, I am there since their start, my question is if all this issue continue or ended?
I donīt have anything against them, only positive actually.. regarding the comissions I donīt agree on some top contributors being already platinium (without reaching it) but the stock industry is obscure and it is like a one to one deal.. :)
they do pay 44% for starters but we mainly have 0.3$ but I do see them increasing, so letīs see where they go..
-
I started with them 12/2009 too, and have basically starting 02/2010 almost every month increases in sales. Looks like they can stand their position in my Top 6 agencies. I have nothing to complain about them. Fast and easy upload. Fast approval time. Not to many rejections. Excellent for a new site.
-
To each its own...for me is not worth having to worry if my photos are being stolen or not for mostly 0.30 sub downloads... ;)

My thoughts exactly. As well as it's not worth having to worry about giving a shady company my personal information. All for a few measly subscription sales? No thanks.

an old issue about depositphotos and depositfiles, read below

I couldn't exactly figure out who this so called "investor" is.
Is there any more information available anywhere?
Are these "just" rumors or has anyone personally spoken to any "culprits"?
I don't have enough information available to claim depositphotos.com to be a shady company.
Where is it stated that there is/might be a direct link to deposit files?

Hammer meet Nail. That sealed it for me too, same questions and issues, I won't open an account there.

Can't talk to the investor who is a secret, but that's not an issue. Investors can be anyone.
Rumors? Maybe, how do you speak to someone who hides their real location, hides their identity and registered through an attorney in Florida to conceal their information?
I'm not claiming they are shady, I'm just not happy with a mystery agency, and don't want to give out private information if they won't even step up and give us the truth about who's behind it , where and who's running it?
Ask yourself this, why can't you talk to them or find them? Why are they hiding and trying to be unavailable to answer any of the questions. You take that as a lack of evidence I take it as hiding the truth. :)

Where on the screen do you see the words Cyprus/Greece??? I think the author of this topic represents a competitor of Depositphotos and specifically wanted to be provocative.
-
I think it's too hard to create the whole photo agency only to steal your images. Maybe it is paranoia ;)
There are many other ways that are much more simple to do that.
But in truth, my portfolio is a small and not very valuable, so I can trust everybody :)
-
Where on the screen do you see the words Cyprus/Greece???
The company wasn't incorporated in Florida until after all of these questions about their location came up.
And there were public records of Cyprus connections, including web registry whois info, which, of course, has now also been changed.
I'm curious to know if any actual DP operations are taking place at the Florida office. Anyone in Fort Lauderdale willing to take a drive by and see if there's anything DP-related there?
-
Effective Date of registration is 10/01/2009.
Site was started in 09/11/2009!!! - after 10 months from registration date.
Registration information - is official documentation and could not be changed.
In Fort Lauderdale by this address placed very big office buiding with many offices. It is absolutely normal.
-
Nice selective cropping in that record you posted. I searched the same record, and scrolling a little further down the page it shows the address of the Director being in Cyprus.
It also shows the Cyprus address in the annual reports for Officers and Directors.
It looks like the actual operations of this company are not in Florida.
The mystery continues...
-
Oops. I really do not seen this. My mistake.
But this address is Director, maybe this is personal home address. But not company.

Here's another interesting bit: http://comercioo.com/prueba-de-pago-depositfiles (http://comercioo.com/prueba-de-pago-depositfiles)
Roughly translated, "Our reader Dixson has already received a payment from DepositFiles, payments are on behalf of Dmitry Sergeev."
Dmitry is the officer listed in the DepositPhotos documents. So we're supposed to believe that DepositFiles and DepositPhotos aren't connected, and yet here's some incriminating evidence (with a screenshot btw) showing a direct connection between the 2 companies.
Also, a search for the email address listed in that PayPal transaction results in this: http://halileo.com.w3spy.net (http://halileo.com.w3spy.net) Halileo.com is the company the payment came from, and the website hosting location is listed as (you guessed it) Limassol Cyprus, the same town good old Dmitry is located in.
Coincidence?
If you're comfortable working with DP, good for you and best of luck. For me personally, in just doing a few quick searches I've found more than enough info to cause some concern. On top of the info that's been discussed regularly in this forum, the past responses from DP representatives and threats they made to anyone exposing information about the connection to DepositFiles, it's all just too much.
-
Maybe this is the big investor?
-
Maybe this is the big investor?
Maybe. Dmitry's name seems to be connected with a few other companies as well. If he's not the investor, he might just be the entrepreneur that gets these companies going.
-
Sorry, I'm quite a newcomer here - well, you have some connection between two companies. And?..
What are you afraid of? Your personal information being stolen? - come on! In a world where everyone uses Facebook, Twitter, smartfones letting know where you were and what you purchased... There are lots of more easy ways to stole your personal information, there is no need to create such a big site (just count how much it cost - just to pay programmers, admins, managers...), keep it working for almost two years, pay for the images sold...
Well, if you don't want to create your account here - don't do this, that's all. I don't have a feeling they are going to say "bye-bye, we won't work any more" (as some _other_ stock sites did)...
-
Maybe this is investor. Maybe this is owner. I think, that if the company works very well and have a big investments - this is very good. Owner can be from any country, but for us, I think, level of sales - is most important.
-
Guys, you're looking just like detectives. :D
If to take a look at the votes on the right they're getting higher while others are slowing their sales. What's the reason in your oppition?
-
(Double post.. oops.)
-
Sorry, I'm quite a newcomer here - well, you have some connection between two companies. And?..
What are you afraid of? Your personal information being stolen?...
It's a personal decision. I don't want to do business with a company that has obvious ties to a piracy site, especially a site that at one time illegally hosted my files and the files of many other microstock folks, and still does today. Not too long ago I was sending requests to DepositFiles and a few other file sharing site to have my images removed from their servers. I'm not about to ignore that fact and get on board with DP. They may be a totally legit company now, but there's history there that I can't ignore.
It sounds like a lot of folks around here are fine with all of this. I'm not. That's all. And I'll leave it at that. I don't think it's debatable that there's a connection between these companies. If you're comfortable working with DP in spite of that, good for you. It just doesn't sit well with me, so I'm not about to sign up.

sales are growing there but mainly 0.3$ :(

Who has been threatened? I must of missed that. Please post some links if you have any.

I was made the "offer" Then I read about them and totally agree with Helix. Not worth the future hassle and the 30 cent norm.
-
I like them. They do better than BS and they pay fast.

WOW. They added special terms for photographers:

http://depositphotos.com/for-photographers.html (http://depositphotos.com/for-photographers.html)
WOW. And the photographers can sell their XXXL-pictures (or eps-files) for 24 cent:
http://de.submit.depositphotos.com/seller-price.html (http://de.submit.depositphotos.com/seller-price.html)
-
From the photographer terms page:
All photographers with large and high-quality portfolios automatically get VIP author status at Depositphotos, including top priority with image inspectors and higher positions in the site search results.
Seems kind of undefined, really. Like it's up to the discretion of DP to decide who gets VIP status. Meanwhile everyone else gets pushed further back in the search results.

I believe they gave contributors an explanation about this issue.. all major top contributors and TONS of more are there, agency has almost 4 million pictures and sales are really increasing..
-
Sales are much better than BS, last month better than CanStock. They have sent me money 4 or 5 days from my request. I can't complain so far.
-
Today my diamond was sold by extended license. $26 dollars goes to my ballance. Cool!
-
I believe they gave contributors an explanation about this issue.. all major top contributors and TONS of more are there, agency has almost 4 million pictures and sales are really increasing..
I'm sure they did give a very convincing explanation to anyone who asked. The fact remains, however, that there are some pretty clear ties to the pirate site DepositFiles, regardless of whatever explanation management is willing to offer.
Everyone has to draw their own line in the sand somewhere. Mine is drawn here, and I won't do business with a company that was started on the heels of a site that actively enabled the piracy of images by some of the same artists they now represent, even if that companies shows growth and sales volume. I don't care if they become the next Shutterstock. I'm not interested in working with them.
That's just me. If everyone else is comfortable working with DP, that's fine as well. Best of luck to you, hope you make lots of money with them.

DepositFiles is NOT pirate site. This is FILE SHARING SERVICE, the same as Rapidshare and Dropbox, google docs and many many other. If you see pirate content on this sites - you can always send complain in support of this sites and pirate content will be deleted. Do not mislead peoples.

There are plenty of file sharing sites out there. Most operate fairly clean businesses, like DropBox.
DepositFiles and RapidShare are among the fringe that are known to turn a blind eye to piracy. They hide behind text on their site that says they honor any DMCA takedown request, but really they're knowingly enabling piracy.
The only people misleading anyone here are the folks behind DepositPhotos/DepositFiles.
-
What's the pricing structure there, I can't find it on the site, The only info you get under for photographers is that BS VIP programme. I've only come across the info that they pay 24c/sub, which is pathetic. Do you at least get raises on subs like on SS?

Laughed so hard I almost fell off my seat. 99% of the traffic on Rapidshare is stolen IP. These sites are the real pirate sites. The warez sites just gleam a bit of the cream from the top, just a front for the real crooks like Rapidshare etc.
As I've said before if you are Pawn Broker who's stock is 99% stolen goods, you're not a Pawn Broker anymore, you're just a fence. Simple.

And i thought this thread was about DepositPHOTOS.... ::)

Is there any real evidence that DepositPhotos are villains or is everyone just making assumptions because of the type of company they're possibly connected with?
Looking at DP's pricing structure, they don't look too bad. One thing I don't like is subscription rates via SMS being less than normal subscriptions.
Reading this thread yesterday, it's difficult to make a decision on whether it's worth joining them because it's ruined with assumptions, accusations and a whole lot of paranoia about a company that's connected with another company.
Can anyone throw some real numbers at me? If you have a fairly large portfolio, where does DP rank compared to the top sites? I don't trust the figures on the side bar.
-
I don't really understand whats the big deal with depositphotos. If you are heavily involved in microstock you have already been giving your pictures to crooks anyway. FT, IS, f.e. their directors and many of their employees would be fleeing criminal charges in a properly regulated world, so whats the difference?
-

How about to discuss a level of sales?
I really dont know about few level sales and most peoples from this thread have guages under 7 o clock and they talk about them that DP is brilliant.
I am not brilliant in any aspect of visual imaginnery but this site for me is not even in long term of run to join them.
I think that low earner folks are constantly faking sales results (combining them from first 50 or 100USD just for uploading) and voting every month like they have brilliant sales.

Alternatively, sales can be boosted by false "members" setting their income at max every month like I suspect the case is with PantherMedia. The only way to catch it out is to have the stats displayed on the site for every agency with a breakdown of percentage of votes for every quantity, then you will be able to see if there is lots of 1's - noting in between and then a few high ones (which can not be real).
In my case DP are bringing some constant sales my way, better than most low income earners and just below Bigstock (quantity more than Bigstock but value lower).
