Topic: Are you disabling old images?

I've just disabled everything that is more than ONE year old without having a sale.  If DT can take a unsold four-year-old image and move it to the FREE section without your permission ... what next?  What's to stop them from moving any image they want?

I wonder what ever happened to the images posted there by RJMiz?Huh  Is there a way to search for his images on DT?

BTW:  I see they are now pushing FREE images on Facebook.

Maybe you can disable them when they are moved... Are they do any kind of notification? I know I would never give my images for free on Facebook. Those people aren't designers and don't know the limitation of uses

Sorry... didn't mean to indicate that the images were on Facebook.  Just meant that DT is using Facebook to advertise Free Images at the DT site.   Embarrassed

Dreamstime has been notifying me that I haven’t sold this image in four years
I can ether move it to the free section or disable the file.  You can click on to
Your upload section in your account find all you free images and disable them.
I plan on going thru all my oldies and re keyword them all. Grin

One year? That seems a little crazy to me. Why not wait at least 2 or 3? What's the saying, "cutting off your nose to spite your face"?

I did see Achilles saying that 90% of images notified were going to the free section which I thought was kind of scary.

Hi Warren,
I think you're rushing a bit. There's no reason to disable your 1 year old images (unless you don't want them in your port anymore). DT is not going to give them away for free over night.
Also I think I remember Achilles saying something about an option. When you receive your notification you need to tick 'Disable All' once only. From that moment on all your selected images are disabled automatically and nothing goes for free.
But I agree, Free Images must be kept under control and to a minimum low.

Ah, you must throw your Bordeaux red wines away too after one year since they taste sour.  Tongue
No worries, le Beaujolais nouveau est arrivé !

I'm new at this.  It is hard to know who to trust or not.  When the FREE announcement was made, I could not understand the default being FREE vice Disable.  It still doesn't make sense.  I feel very strongly about this.   How does DT have the right to TAKE an image without specific approval?  If I heard a satisfactory answer, maybe it would generate some trust.  Until that default is set to Disable, I cannot trust DT.

TAKING a four year old image sets the precedent.  Once established, there is no reason not to TAKE any image they choose ... regardless of age.

I'm sure you guys are right.  I am over-reacting.  Consider it a protest.  A very insignificant protest but I can't just "take it."   Angry

I have been one reacting strongly on the DT forum itself, and Achilles took all the reactions into account. I have this habit to confront people directly. The rules were changed in that once you make a choice disable/free, this choice stays the default. Unless you don't read DT email in years, there is no chance any more that your images will become free "by accident".

So did I, FD.  So much so that my post was deleted and my discussion with Achilles wound up in the Private Comments.
My point is that none of this is "by accident."

I repeat ... what has happened to the images of RJMIZ.  I doubt that he gets emails ... He died.  Does he default to FREE?

Like banks and bond emitters, DT plays on the "dead" money. About 2% of the bonds money is never collected since old Auntie kept the shares under the bed and the ants or the dog ate it when she got Alzheimer.

I repeat ... what has happened to the images of RJMIZ.  I doubt that he gets emails ... He died.  Does he default to FREE?
Yes, unless his heirs read the email. As far as I understood, he had none. There was a friend that inherited his PC with all his tutorials but that friend had no clue how to save those, as was found out when he posted on some forums (this one?) under RJMIZ nick.
DT does the same as all banks and bond emitters. What should they do then? Burn the money or the images? They will keep RJMIZ earnings too, unless somebody shows up with conclusive proof that he is an heir.

I am being asked by DT about such images, and so far I disabled a few. I don't bother going and disabling old images on my own, only do that when prompted by DT.

Disable them all is my advice.  I'm down to less than 50 images there and can't wait to get the rest off.

DT is using Facebook to advertise Free Images at the DT site.   Embarrassed

The advertising you see relates to the profile of you which the advertising spooks build as they track you around the web. Your cookies, flash cookies etc. You visit lots of stock sites so you are seeing adverts for stock. And probably gadgets too.

FWIW I often get adverts for muslim marriage bureaux. Bizarrely I think they must have decided that I'm a 25 - 40 years old Pakistani male probably mostly living in Europe.

Fd-amateur, why do you make up stories without checking first? The account you're referring to has been inherited and proper legal documentation has been provided. Consequently rights were transferred properly and revenue is paid accordingly.

Hi and welcome!

I don't think you'll need to show 'proof of identity' as such, we're all accepted here on the basis of our posts.

However Leaf, who moderates the forum, does have a system of 'verification' for agency representatives. If you want to discuss your circumstances you could PM him here;
