See this link.

http://blog.dreamstime.com/2009/12/18/best-selling-images-in-2009_art31099

It is interesting the the top selling image is from some one with a portfolio of under 400 images.

Wow. Best selling Dreamstime image just had 279 dowloads through the year? Is there some mistake?

Oh Yuri, the people in the front row of that image don't even have reflections at all!  They must be vampires! Wink

I'm not understanding what they mean by "best selling".

Some of the other images have more downloads than the top three others!

For example, the fourth best-selling image has 646 downloads and the ninth best-selling image has 708 downloads!

You forgot "in 2009".  Images with more downloads are older, so the number of dlds in 2009 must be smaller than those of the ones above them.

Nope, ignore the man behind the curtain. (how many sales are really being made)

Be ready for 1000 new soft focus Christmas ornament shots, single color lighted trees and seasonal graphic compositions!  Grin

Oh yes, I liked all three! I'm hoping for some diversity next year, when Gold or Green will get a chance to be one of the top ten.  Wink

There are already a million of those Christmas trees. The guy or gal that did the first one must be ticked at everyone else. I wonder if they filter these lists for really popular files that aren't very good. I know some of my better sellers aren't very interesting, but are useful.

This one rock

That's what is particular with Dreamstime. You won't see this a lot at Istock. Dreamstime allow more creativity and I hope Istock open their minds on such images a little more. It can sell!

I think you need to look at this guy for example http://www.istockphoto.com/user_view.php?id=649845. At no point in time do I remember that Dreamstime had the crown for very creative content compared to any other agency.
Especially with istock, which has lots of extremely talented exclusives.

Xalanx,
just to clarify, your IStock link to M I S H A and contributor Ba-Mi on DT = one and the same artist.
I'm not sure why this particular image is not on IS, but we're talking about the same artist here.
Amazing portfolio.
And I agree with the others, DT allows more creative freedom to pass through. In some cases, the result is a success.

Boy, he knows how to work that fire.  Wonder how he puts those together.

You're not the only one, if that helps. I assume 3dsmax rendered fire set to follow some paths. Also his illustrations are awesome, extremely gifted artist.

Eireann - yes it's the same guy. Check this image, though - http://www.istockphoto.com/stock-photo-10949379-hot-car.php

Read the description. I'm quite sure the DT image was rejected because it looks too much like an Audi TT (which probably is). So it has nothing to do with creativity.

lol, really...you're right. in general i don't find the pic so good, different color distribution, strange edges around the people... i mean for someone like me it'd be perfectly fine, but for yuri?

i have also a bestseller, it's a reindeer that was downloaded quite often. very happy, as i just started. :-) it was rejected at all other agencies...

hope you all are very fine!

Isn't it interesting that some of us wouldn't have uploaded this pic for that reason, but it makes no difference to the buyers? I bet iStock would have rejected it.

yeah....well i guess if yuri uploads something, it's accepted easily. Smiley the reviewers are still human beings after all.
which is not bad, he's doing well.

i especially like the guy on the far right, whom based upon his reflection, is actually hovering about 1 1/2 ft off of the floor  Cheesy
...but in Yuri's defense, i'll bet you a $ that Yuri never saw that prior to upload...it was done by the caged-and-tortured-minions in his basement...they have to upload "X" number of images per day or he simply will not feed them  Wink

Merry Christmas!

He's probably a fan of "Ghostrider" ... as this looks like a scene out of the movie except that its a car and not a motorcycle ...

I love to manipulate fire myself and love to see when someone's creativity is both unleashed, approved, and rewarded by selling well.
