Topic: Doesn't dreamstime pisses you off lately?

This is going to be a simple rant post. I'm wondering is it just me or is it the dreamstime exaggerate with their crazy behavior... Does anyone knows what is going on there? Or have similar feelings?

Not so long ago they did cut submission limits to some ridiculous numbers. Later they rejected absolutely everything that might be similar (and I don't mean almost identical photos, but just two different photos of the same subject).

Now I got rejection because photos have THE SAME TITLE. It's like omg, what do I have to write in the tittle to satisfy them? The old Swiss train on the green background, The old Swiss train on the different background? And what about lets say a flower? A pink flower on the tree the fist take, the pink flower on the tree the second take? Argh. ARGH. Honestly I think they're going nuts. Soon they will reach the istock level of nuisance.

The only thing I don't like about DT is their "too similar" policy.  I get it.  I understand it.  They posted examples of what they mean.  But their inspectors seem to have not viewed that post.  For some of us this has gone too far.  We know it has for Yuri.  When you're shooting in a studio with a model you tend to manage him/her to provide multiple looks.  Just because the model is wearing the same clothing is no reason to deny acceptance into a collection.  As a buyer (yes I am also a contributor) I need choices.  DT's decision to limit similars hurts my choies so I am now with a couple of other agencies.

If I were running DT, I'd certainly do it differently.  Thank God, I'm not running DT!   Smiley

Well 95% of the files submitted were rejected because of their " Too many photos/illustrations on the same subject or from the same series" At the end stopped uploading there, I don't see the point anymore.
Actually DT will be in Middle Tier if they keep going like this(at least I wish)
One more thing, look at their forum everything is allowed except critics Huh

Actually, DT is one of the few sites that ISN'T pi$$ing me off right now.

I've been nailed by the similars rejection, but other than that I am pretty happy with DT.  I still have the highest RPD there of any of the micros, and sales have been increasing steadily year on year, and even holding firm over the summer.  They have very responsive contributor service and good communication.  And best of all, their site functions all the time.

No site is perfect, but compared to some others, DT is pretty good.  The buyers I send there seem to like it too Smiley

The same title thing is strange - the upload process facilitates this.  They accepted 2 of mine recently, essentially the same thing from different angles and exactly the same details.

I seem to be having an easier time with DT than the other sites. <knocks on wood>

I had 100% acceptance of my last batch, never got the "same titles" rejection and just had a license fee that netted me almost $5. Well above the average for SS and FT. On the downside 1/2 of the downloads this month are subs, but even with that it's a higher RPD than SS and about the same as FT, where the sales are going through a slump.

I don't get pissed off - I usually just move on.

The one that made me scratch my head though was a couple of months ago I had an image refused because the title to the image submitted was in all caps...and then I looked around on the website and every image at DT has a title in all caps.

I still can't figure that one out.  Grin

It maybe that at some places the title is displayed in all capital letter, but not everywhere. This may could case problems with the search, display, indexing.

You are probably looking at the thumbnails where titles are all in capital letters.

Hello all,
First time poster here.  I've recently had a large swath of isolated photos rejected on account of the "just not what we're looking for" explanation.  What sorts of images have you guys been able to push through recently?

Go to their homepage and click on Latest>Latest additions>More images.

That should give you a good idea.

And surely will!

About the pictures in question. I do understand that similarities can happen, but in this case is a copy! plain and simple! No one is capable of deny it!

Welcome to the New World, where everyone thinks that whatever they find on the internet is free to use or take or copy or re-distribute.  Angry  And the only person you can rely to TRY to do anything about it is yourself. Don't expect the agencies to care.

Absolutely and wholeheartedly agree! It's the site i send all potential buyers to and will keep doing so for a long time.
In addition to the above i'd like to add they are constantly trying to improve (and have added quite a few new and interesting features the past years) and are open for, and actively asking for, contributors opinions.
If DT pisses you off, you better stay FAAAAAAR away from the real gangsta's. (iStock and FT for me).

I like DT too but I wonder why they reject editorial images of vintage postcards. Lately I got rejections because: " We have reviewed your file and this is not quite what we're looking for" They don't seem to understand that these images sell. I have a few who slipped through and they are all selling.

I'm not sure what DT customers are buying... Of the 120ish files I have on SS, DT has accepted 85 of them and SS sales are over 20 times that of DT.

Plus, I'm having to resubmit a lot of stuff lately because the reviewers are idiots or lazy...  This was rejected for a copyright issue:

While it's similar brothers were not.  Doesn't matter where you go, you run into reviewers who are morons.
