Thanks for the headsup Maria!  Nice that DT is matching our donations Smiley

Lisa,

Wouldn't it be great if they would match it in the same proportion of site-photographer shares in commissions?  Grin

yeah, thanks for the link Madelaide.  Here is the full press release

While Thanksgiving is a joyous event for many, for those less fortunate it can be a difficult time. With this in mind, Dreamstime, a leading stock photography community, is launching its “Give Thanks, Give Back” campaign to help share the blessings of this year’s Thanksgiving with those less fortunate.

During the month of November, Dreamstime community members will have the opportunity to contribute to the cause by donating credits normally used to purchase stock photos on the Dreamstime site. Dreamstime will then convert those credits into a cash donation and match it. The choice of charity will be decided by community members, who can vote for their preferred organization on the Dreamstime community message board. The most popular charity will receive the donation at the conclusion of the campaign.

•   WHO: Dreamstime, a leading stock photography community
•   WHAT: The “Give Thanks, Give Back” campaign, an initiative designed to help those less fortunate during this year’s holiday season by donating to a charity chosen by community members
•   WHEN: Contributions can be made now through November 25th
•   WHERE: Community members can make credit donations at the following page: http://www.dreamstime.com/thanksgiving

I thought I'd give this a bump.  A great initiative.

Bump. More agencies would do the same.

For Contributors: With much or few sales, even 5$, 10$ makes the difference.

Yep!  I have donated. Nice initiative and a nice thought, especially around X-mas times. Some agencies do have a heart and that makes a very refreshing thought.

I agree 100%

However, it doesn't look to me like the donations would be tax deductible for US contributors? If so, then if I pay 30% taxes and itemize deductions (which I do) and I give a donation to, say, Operation Smile, I can give them 30% more than if I gave a donation via DT to its charity. Right?

True, however DT is matching our donations, so effectively that is 100% more to the charity (rather than 30%) if you go through DT.

Not sure how I missed this but this is a great idea, glad to help and I hope this becomes a tradition! Glad they extended it to Monday, I just got my contribution in.

Very nice of Dreamstime, thank you!

Right now, at $3177, the total donation will be just over $6k.  Would be nice to see that climb to $7k or $8k by the deadline on Monday.
