Here's a mystery - see if you can solve it on Dreamstime

1. Look at this image. Nothing spectacular or unusual right? (Note the keywords and photog's name)
http://www.dreamstime.com/blue-ornamental-floral-background-image3930591

2. Now look at this image. (Note the keywords and photog's name)
http://www.dreamstime.com/vector-abstract-image4778140

A mysterious coincidence? Two different artists sharing the same creative mind? One artist using two accounts?
My guess is that both artists are identical twins, separated at birth. One not even knowing the other exists.

It should be more like "we already have something EXACTLY LIKE THAT". If you look at the portfolio of 3rdimension, the range and quality of the portfolio does not compute. Overly simplistic backgrounds, huge 3d single block letters, but throwing in a few concept car renders for good measure. The overall flavor is not consistent. The one submissions is vector, yet the other is just a medium bitmap. My guess is something is fishy here.

I think I will send off a support note to DT for them to take a look.

Addition: I just sent off the inquiry to DT support on this.

I think DT shouldn't have the same reviewers for illustrations and photos. I'm not a reviewer and yet knew this very popular Misha's image...

I think DT shouldn't have the same reviwers for illustrations and photos.
I also think they should review the additional formats when they review the image itself. Now it takes about a week before my .eps files are accepted.

Has anyone reported this person to Admin at Dreamstime?  If not I'll do it - we really shouldn't allow people to get away with this.

I seriously doubt any wrong doings. I am throughly convinced it's a phenomenon known
to scientist for many years. When identical twins at birth are separated, they still share,
and occupy the same thought patterns in the brain.

I believe the two artists created the same image, at exactly the same time, at different locations.
Whats all the fuss about?

Well, excuse me. I was not aware that some so self righteous people were also
self appointed "image police".

OK I will stand aside while you guys perform your self appointed duties.
Far be it from me to interfere with the process of law enforcement.

well i´m not sure if that was supposed to be 0% sarcasm 50% sarcasm or 100% sarcasm.... i´ll take it as 50% sarcasm and respond.

Although perhaps tattletails are not the best thing either, i think it is important for us to watch eachothers backs.  Stealing photos is as serious as stealing anything else and should be stopped and I am glad that people have stepped up to bring this to Dreamstime´s attention so they can look into it.  That is the beauty of the onlin community, that people can work together to find things like this out and bring it to peoples attention.

A nice little story for you:  There was an article in last weeks newspaper in Canada about a guy whose car got stolen on a test drive.  The car got never came back with the guy test driving it, and so the owner spewed his grief out on a forum and gave all the car info to the forum members.  12 hours later someone had spotted the car, 12 hours later forum members were following the car and had gotten pictures of the driver, had managed to find out his real name, pictures from his facebook profile, work place, highschool etc. etc. etc. .  24 hours later the police had been notified of where the car was and the thief was arrested Smiley
ahh the beauty of the internet and working together!

You made me fall off my chair Cheesy

You are either extremely naive! (EXTREMELY)or extremely sarcastic Grin

Nice catch though! We should go after it and make sure the criminal is punished as deserved..

The only way I can justify it is maybe these guys work for an animation company and they worked together while modelling that bank vault so it belongs to all of them!!??

But what about the florals and japanese images???

This guy is just trying to get money by selling pictures taken by others.

It's not about being inspired by others (as I am quite often), or even using some copyrighted artwork to build his own picture (a font, a shape, a silhouette etc.), it's just about downloading tons of commercial stock photos and trying to make money by seling them.

This is just plain stupid and he just get caught.

I know The MIZ that you do not sell your photos for the earnings (at least you pretend so) and I guess you don't care if someone just take your photo to build his own portfolio.

But I care.

I have sent a few nastygrams to DT.

Could probably find a lot more if you want to spend the time on it. This one was easy for me to find.
