Topic: Is the vector uploading process really as convoluted as it seems?

I recently decided to upload a few images to DT to test out the site. From what I can tell, I did everything correctly, but it seems super inefficient way of doing things.

The initial upload only accepted the jpg version of the file. After several days of waiting, I got the approvals. Then I had to go into each file individually and upload the corresponding vector files. Now I'm being told that it can take several weeks (?!?!) to have these additional formats approved.

Is this for real???

Hey mate..

Indeed it's not the best vector uploading system out there, but there is something you can do.

After you upload the jpeg and submit them, go on the "pending files" menu and edit the file you want to send the .eps. You can send the .eps file from there even if the jpeg is not yet accepted. It will save you a few days! Wink

You can also do it at the submit area after your jpg's are in your unfinished section.

When you do all the keywords, titles and descriptions and whatever else you need to do at that screen, press submit and there will be a text link to submit additional formats.  You'll have to click it quick as it's on some goofy 3 second timer and then browse to your eps file and submit it.  It will also be attached to the jpg you just uploaded.

I hate their vector review process but unless they change it we're stuck with it  Undecided

That's what I do when submitting. You can turn off the auto-continue as well.

Yup, it can be a pain, but you get used to it.

One other thing I have found, is that I have had vectors rejected because I have used 'vector' in the title or keywords and told only to add that once the actual vector file has been approved. Has not happened on all instances, but a real pain if you get a reject cos of that.

I got the same. The trick is to upload the eps as soon as you submit the jpeg, so they can see that the eps file is pending too! Wink

What DT hasn't realized with their idiotic process is that it is costing them BIG money by putting jpeg only for sale. No buyer is going to wait 3 weeks for their dumbass approval system to clear a vector file.

if you are using ftp i think you can upload eps vector to a 'additional folder' with matching jpg.

one thing is the file will be rejected if keyword 'vector' is there, 'vector' keyword should be put after approval of additional format. I am not sure has it changed.

Will this automatically link the files together, or will I still need to go in and manually do that?

i think you need to ftp the eps to another folder named 'additonal format'...

at least you can do everything in one click.

Yes, that is what I was asking. If I FTP the eps files to that folder, will it automatically link them to the jpg files?

Unless they have changed it, you needed to change the eps name to the file number of the jpeg to get them to link up from FTP. It made the whole process fairly useless. It would be great if they changed it to match the file name though.

So I just got the eps approvals for the first batch: jpg uploaded 9/21, approved 9/27. eps uploaded 9/27, approved 10/7.

The second batch of eps files were attached immediately after uploading the jpg (didn't know I could ignore the instructions to not do that until they were approved Cool ) ... hopefully this batch will go more quickly. Two and a half weeks to get a vector online is kinda ridiculous.

That actually seems fairly quick at DT. I thought it took about a month.
