Topic: Special promotion: 10,000,000 files online!

For those of you still uploading to DT, and also for those who have images online (in red):

Quote
The 10,000,000th image is close. Last 6 years were an incredible journey. What was only a dream becomes everyday reality for more and more Dreamstimers. In return for your hard work, we have a special promotion for all our members during the milestone day. Not something new, a promotion we did in the past. However, considering the current size of our community, this is of a much bigger magnitude, showing the strength of this industry.

Besides the usual prize, now an Ipad awarded to the contributor uploading the milestone, we have something new. Royalties for all downloads made during the day when the 10th million file is achieved will be as follows:
- 100% to all non-exclusive contributors
- 110% to all exclusive contributors
- 20% discount to all buyers

It's only one day, but will make it count! The ETA countdown that we installed (see welcome tab) shows when the milestone is expected. We hope to decrease the time and reach it in the middle of the week, during one of our best days ever. In order to reach it sooner, feel free to bribe editors with kind comments, no forum rules trespassing and of course, chocolate Smiley

Thank you all for making this possible!

Those are dashes and not minus signs in front of the percentages, right?  Grin

Wow!  This is really exciting!  First time any agency will be giving a 100% royalty day to NON-exclusives!  What a wonderful gesture! Cheesy

Nice but I can't help feeling they will only use a tiny bit of the money they have made from our commission cuts.

I knew someone would have to say that.

Let's look at it this way - Istock cut royalties to less than half what Dreamstime pays, and they simultaneously eliminated Punctum Day awards.

Are we so beaten down that we can't even enjoy a bit of good news? Considering how much bad news there has been out of the micros lately, I am more than happy to give Dreamstime credit where credit is due.

Love them!
Always have Smiley
My most favorite site, a great, reliable agency.

Thank you Dreamstime, (especially at a time like this) !
Show us, (and them), that it can be done.
It's a lesson.

Thank you!

Sorry, I can't help feeling the way I do.  This just doesn't excite me at all, unless I happen to get 20 EL's on that day.

Well you could look at it that way, I like to think that they didn't have to do anything and in the current economic climate I see it as a decent thing to do.

I've actually been having regular sales there lately nearly every day or so.  But I'm waiting for the bottom to drop out Wink

Working on more now that I don't have any time consuming business paperwork to deal with.

I bet this will also encourage more uploads and maybe it'll happen before Thanksgiving.

Nothing to be excited about they will choose a winner and a time so they can sell a story with an image chosen. I would bet it will happen on weekend when everything is slow anyway.

We will see. I doubt that. It does not make any sense to come up with such an annoncement to ruin it by timing it on weekend. And yes, they certainly have way to target a day by driving the reviews. As far as I know they do not review or at least do not review much during weekends.

DT is the best!

They deserved a big and aggressive promotional campaign by us, photographers ...

Let's show to the other agencies what is big synergy between agency and photographers ... Wink

^^^I agree, lets start a big and aggressive promotional campaign by us, photographers (and illustrators) and send them all to Graphic Leftovers Smiley

My earnings with DT are way down this year, I feel afraid to upload anything remotely similar and they have cut my commission.  If the 100% royalty day was today, I would be on for a $0 bonus.  Apart from that, they are doing well.

If you look at the "winners" of the earlier milestones (9 mill, 8 mill etc), they look pretty random to me. My sales have been up lately, and I love the gesture, even though it is quite probable that I won't make anything. I especially like the 110% to the exclusives. That is a good way to show appreciation.
