Would love to learn of any tips, hints that you guys are using regarding your workflow for 4k editing. Have successfully sold HD clips for several years and have been asked for 4K material.

My camera will record 4k in MOV (LPCM) / MP4 (LPCM) / MP4/AVCHD: AVCHD Progressive. I am planning to edit with Videstudio Pro, a product I have used for years and like.

I have hitherto used MPEG Streamclip to convert the rendered files into Quicktime MOV, as required by all my stock agencies, but this obviously isn't going to work with 4k files!

I know some people have been editing 4k files in a HD timeline, and whilst I appreciate this will produce  stunning HD files, I'm guessing the Stock Agency servers won't recognise them as 4k files!

Thoughts much appreciated.

MPEG Streamclip has UHD parameters (3840 x 2160).  I shoot UHD, then downsize to 1080P Apple Pro RES in MPEG. Never had any 1080P rejected for not being true 1080P. I just converted 45 UHD's yesterday with Mpeg Streamclip.  Easy peasy.

I use adobe premier elements and have the same work flow as I used with HD.  I just save them at the 4k resolution.  Not had any rejections and they are recognised as 4K.  If MPEG Streamclip doesn't do 4K, there are other free converters out there.

Thanks for this, buddy. I will look into this. Most stock agencies need the file in Quicktime format. Do you do this straight out of Elements??
