Title: Did you make any sales through Flickr?
Post by: Poncke on February 04, 2013, 12:46
Did you make any sales through Flickr?

I had a pro account but because of their abysmal fascist customer support I dropped the pro account.

I have received one request through flickr to use one of my photos, but when I asked a tenner, they never replied. Cheap bastids.

So, Did you make any sales through Flickr? Or is there any other value to a Flickr account?

I sold one picture. I requested 20 EUR and the buyer was happy to pay that by bank transfer.
My photostream is only about 150 pictures.
But there are more freebie hunters than buyers on Flickr.

I'm not sure. I put links to stock sites or to my own site where applicable (not all of my work is on my own site) so people know where they can license an image. I'm sure I've probably gotten a few sales that way.

But I very rarely get contacted via Flickr inquiring about anything. Most requests for specific images or requests for custom images come through stock sites or my own website.

I think I need to amend my previous comment on this topic. I'm seeing greater volume of referred buyers coming into StockFresh, and the only place I'm linking to SF in any significant way is flickr. To date I've referred 24 buyers to SF, and often times the days I see sales of my own images at SF are the same days when I see referral earnings.

There is definitely a connection between my SF earnings on the rise and the increase in flickr activity.

I get sales through flickr getty but never through flickr directly though people used to request me for free images. Though i had disabled the right click saving still when i searched some of my images were(and some are still) being used by some people and blogs with my copyright marks.i have now removed almost all of my images from flickr and now planning to get a photoshelter account in stead.

I have disabled right click saving too but Google search allows right click saving. They override the Flickr setting. Which is criminal.

I don't think I'll ever see enough sales volume at my own website to make it worthwhile. I'm back to spending more on my site than it brings in. It needs a major overhaul, updates, and maybe then I'll start linking to it again. Right now it's just sort of in limbo while I try to find the time to get it set up right.
