Hi All,
I see that this notification was posted in another thread but I'm posting it here as well to ensure maximum exposure.
We removed the View statistics from the Adobe Stock contributor portal, because the feature wasn’t yet providing aggregate views across the Fotolia and Adobe Stock websites and caused confusion.
Over the last few months our foremost priority for the Adobe Stock Contributor website has been to make the submission process as fast and easy as possible. We now provide an automatic category suggestion, more auto-keywords and the ability to upload a CSV file of metadata for easier keywording of multiple files or videos.
We are working on improving the available statistics on the contributor portal but can’t share a release date at this time.
Please share your feedback on the portal and keep the suggestions for improvements coming. I recommend you take a look at the expanded auto-keyword function and the auto-category feature as those are two new features that can potentially increase the speed of your upload process dramatically.
I'm at Photoshop World in Orlando this week so my responses may not be too swift but I will check in here as often as I can.
Thank you!
Mat Hayward

Three cheers for csv!!!

Now this is how to deal with contributors correctly. Thanks for the update!
-
I want to repeat publicly my previously (and privately) expressed thanks for Mat's quick and effective personal response to my plea for help just a few days ago. The glitch that I called to his attention was cleared up right away.
Mat is indeed showing the way that a stock agency should deal with and support its contributors! ;)

Good job Mat for keeping us posted!
I wish there was a "Mat" for SS ...

There's only one Mat.

Hi Mat,
thank you for sharing valuable info.
I upload from Fotolia website and I find that there is only one thing that makes uploading very time consuming.
That is the need of reordering keywords to have the most important 7 on top. Is that still the way you recommend?
Other than that the uploading is fine to me
-
Wow, thanks for the feedback! I really appreciate it. We are in this together so I promise I'll continue to communicate as much as I can in as timely a manner as possible to issues relevant to contributors at Adobe Stock.
@brightonl: Yes, the keyword order still impacts search and it's very important to list your most important keywords within the first 7. In my personal workflow I use Adobe Bridge to add keywords as they stay in the order I added them. As you probably know, if you use Lightroom to add keywords they are alphabetized which is not ideal.
All that being said, I may change my workflow up now. I played around with the new auto-keywording the other day. Taking off my Adobe hat and putting on my contributor hat, I have to say I was very impressed. I uploaded a photo of a German Shepherd puppy and got 22 keyword results including the fact that it was a dog, a puppy and the system correctly identified the breed! Using the auto keyword feature you can simply drag the most important keywords to the top if they aren't already there. It's much easier and reasonably fast to do in the portal as compared to the Fotolia UI in my personal opinion.
Thanks again,
Mat

Good news about the CSV.
There doesn't seem to be any transparency about what licenses have been sold - just received a video commission for only $7.34 on Adobe stock, though have no way of knowing how it comes about that the file is sold at such a low price. I was led to understand that videos wouldn't be available at such huge discounts. Any way of finding out some details?
-
Hi Mat and many thanks for being here with us when needed.
I see that everyone here is very content of how things are going. I don't want to shoot the messenger but as you asked for feedback, I have to ask two questions:
1. Why do we need an auto-keywording tool when most contributors already have their metadata on file at the moment of upload? If I remember correctly, there was an announcement in the past that AS/FT reads the metadata even from video files.
Auto-keywording failed even for the mighty Go0gle, so why waste time with something not needed?
Also, the upload process on FT was already one of the fastest of all agencies and upload never ever failed in the past like it does on AS.
2. My second is probably off topic but if we are talking about time invested in enhancing features, I have to ask this:
FT was my bestseller till mid last year but after AS overtook the agency, sales are dropping slowly but continuously, sinking to 30% earnings in 2017 compared to 2016.
It could be just me but I still want to ask, is it worth to further upload to an agency that became one of the low earners (despite the poll on the right).
What is Adobe doing in this regard?
-
double post.
-
My earnings are going well on FL so it may not be the agency as such. Just saying.
-
My earnings are going well on FL so it may not be the agency as such. Just saying.
Glad to hear that.
For me, well earner images from last year are still there but big credit sale like $4.46; $2.36; $1.65; $1.5; $1.13;......as of April 2016 don't happen any more. Mostly I got is $0.26 ($0.29 - tax) and 1 credit $0.25. That is where the difference comes from but as I said before, it could be just my long lasting bad luck.
Or it could have something to do with this or other plan change:
The transfer of credits to standard licenses requires the purchase of an Adobe Stock plan. The royalty you earn for licenses will initially be $0.99 per image, with each image during the promotion representing one converted credit. Soon thereafter, we will move to pay a royalty at 33% of the image price based on the specific, undiscounted product that was purchased by the buyer. For reference, based on some of the most popular Adobe stock plans, the small image plan of 2 images per month will earn you $3.30 in royalties for each sale. Licenses from the 10 images a month plan pay out at $0.99, and sales from a large subscription plan with 350 or 750 images a month guarantee a minimum payout, which is $0.25 - $0.40 based on your Fotolia rank. We'll be monitoring royalties and payouts closely to keep a careful eye on the success of our contributors.

Dodie, it is not only you with 25, 29, 32 cents.
A suppose Adobe Stock is following the same way like SS and the rest, in the long run. What else??

I didn't want to say it myself but that is what I was thinking too, copying SS methods.
Although SS has many other advantages like editorials while AS brought nothing new, just more rejections for what was previously permitted. I was waiting to see a revolution ( in our favor) in microstock from such a big company like A.

Mat is not the Messiahs... he is just real clever, making us believe that he is...

I thought the auto-category was kind of pointless. It's fun to see what it picks, but I usually just end up changing or choosing it anyway. I guess I never reorder my keywords. Didn't realize that was still a thing.

Hi Mat and thanks for being Mat!
If I could agree about the CSV and auto-keywording tool, I have to totally disagree about the general fotolia UI : that's a "worker" UI, where the Adobe Stock UI isn't. I've tried it but completely abandoned, worst of all about how MRs are managed.
There is a need for a very-simple system like the one in 123rf (you are a contributor, test it: it's very easy) or the one in Photodune: you simply upload MRs with the batch of files and the system attaches everything (envato) or you create a CSV with attachments and if there are duplicated MR's the system ignores them. If there aren't, the system stores them.
Very simple and automated! :)
This could be a GREAT improvement VS fotolia UI: upload files, mr, csv : go in the site and 1-CLICK-ATTACHMENT : done. THIS is improvement! :)
Thanks for listening! :)

@Mat,
I said that I have two questions but I have a third one too:
I don't see on my AS portfolio any kind of filters of sorting. Images are presented to the buyer in a single way, the layout that FT calls relevance. There is no possibility for the buyer to sort images by any other criteria like new or popular, whatever.
No sets, no filters, photos, videos, illustrations all mixed in a big mess.
I can't expect from a buyer who wants to buy videos to check all my pages one by one to find what he needs.
Why would he lose so much time when there are other agencies with a clearer interface?
These are the things that should be fixed first, more options for buyers are very important. Maybe you could mention these things to your superiors.
It's more than a year now, how long for AS to catch up with other agencies?
-
There's a "sort by" pull down at the top right. Recent, relevance, popularity, downloads and undiscovered. There's a filter box next to the search entry that drops a panel with all kinds of options. Not sure how you aren't seeing all that.
-
Thank you Sean.
I see it on my contributor dashboard but that is not available for buyers.
I never use AS except when I want to check something, therefor I was searching the way I thought a buyer would do.
I'll tell you what I was doing and please tell me if I am not searching the right way.
So, search for a keyword like rose, or an image ID, click on any image in the result, then click on the contributor's name to go to his portfolio.
You will see the portfolio exactly as I described it earlier, no matter if signed in or not.
There probably are other ways to search but if I did it this way, it's possible others will do the same.
Am I doing something wrong? How else could a buyer search?
I'm used to any kind of websites, usability is the most important thing on a site. If the buyer can't navigate to his pleasing in a few seconds, he goes away.
-
Mat is not the Messiahs... he is just real clever, making us believe that he is...
Mat is Mat, and each site should have its own Mat. But unfortunately for us they have not.
There was one (or two) on Shutterstock, but he has been eaten by the shareholders…

Ah, I see what you're saying. There's a difference between this:
https://stock.adobe.com/search?creator_id=205335036
and this:
https://stock.adobe.com/contributor/205335036/seanlockephotography
I have the first bookmarked so that's what I always use. The second is what you get when you click a contributor's name. Yes, a search should always have the same interface available.

In other words, the site is useless for buyers. Now I know where my sales are. Thank you Sean.
-
Well, I have to imagine most buyers aren't trying to search through a single contributor's port trying to find a certain image or video.
-
That's not what I meant either. I can imagine a buyer buying several images from the same contributor if more images are put in front of him like in a set/ lightbox (e.g. food).
Once I already searched for some of my images and I lost my patience and left the site for this reason. I thought they need more time to fix the site but..........it doesn't matter any more.

How can Fotolia contributors enjoy this new features?

Hi Mat and many thanks for being here with us when needed.
I see that everyone here is very content of how things are going. I don't want to shoot the messenger but as you asked for feedback, I have to ask two questions:

Lots of great questions, sorry I've been slow to respond. I've been traveling a bit this week. I'll try to answer everyone as best I can starting with you @Dodie.
"Why do we need auto-keywording?"
-It's an added feature. Particularly helpful to new contributors that don't have a firm grasp on keyword strategy yet. If you are embedding your keywords into the metadata of your files, the system won't generate auto-keywords for you so there will be no impact on your work flow of any kind. However, if you are stumped on how to keyword an image, give it a try. The system is "learning" and seems to get better every time I try it. It could end up you submit images to Adobe Stock first with no keywords then copy and paste the auto-keywords into your metadata for other uploads. I'm just sayin...
#2 "FT was my bestseller till mid last year but after AS overtook the agency, sales are dropping slowly but continuously, sinking to 30% earnings in 2017 compared to 2016.

I can't speak to your specific results. In my contributor account I am finding that my year over year monthly sales are increasing for the most part. Are you consistently uploading new content? That is the best way to ensure your portfolio stays near the top of the search results I have found. Adobe is working very hard to market Adobe Stock and as far as I can tell, we are increasing in volume at a rapid pace. There is strong potential to earn good revenue...it's entirely up to you to produce the content to take advantage of the opportunity.
Good luck!

@Zorba, I understand your point about the releases. I'm sure you are right, there is probably a better way. I'm not sure the methods you mentioned are ideal but it's a matter of opinion. Our system is convenient to use once you have uploaded the release for the first time. I prefer to attach releases in Adobe Stock vs. Fotolia simply because the search bar is so fast and convenient. At this point I have a healthy amount of releases in my account and it can be an inconvenience to search through them for the right one sometimes.
Also, regarding Fotolia vs AS UI it's subjective which is why if you are grandfathered in you can still use FT to submit your work. All I ask is that you check out Adobe Stock as we continue to add updates/upgrades and give it a shot (pun intended). If it's not for you, no problem! You can submit through FT and let me know what you would like to see in Adobe Stock to make it better.

How can Fotolia contributors enjoy this new features?
You can sync your Fotolia account with Adobe Stock by visiting contributor.stock.adobe.com
Once there you will need an Adobe ID to log in (free and easy to create if you don't already have one.
If your Adobe ID is the same as the email you use for your Fotolia account you should be automatically synced. If not, select yes when asked if you are a Fotolia contributor. You will then be prompted to enter your Fotolia login name and password.

Cheers, Mat. I'm sure it's just some UI oversight.

Thanks for the answer Mat.
I hope they can fix the difference between the two portfolio layouts mentioned above too.

You are welcome Dodie.
I heard back from the development team and learned that the sorting discrepancy between portfolio layouts you pointed out is on their list and should be updated at some point in the future. I don't have a date but did learn it's on the list.
Thank you,

Thanks Mat for the good news.

I've just given up on uploading via the Adobe interface and gone back to Fotolia. Two issues arise from my workflow:
1. Only the first part of the filename is visible. Where clips are visually similar I need to see the whole filename to identify which clip is which.
2. I enter keywords by cutting and pasting from Lightroom, which arranges them alphabetically. This is not a problem for any other agency than FT/Adobe which requires them in priority order. In the Adobe upload interface I can only move one keyword at a time so reordering is difficult and time consuming. At least with the FT upload interface I can select several separate keywords and move them all to the top in one operation.
For the moment at least I will stick with the FT upload interface.

I stick with FT too because of the keywording.
Lightroom put my keywords in alphabetical order which is fine with the other agencies.
I have all file names, titles, descriptions and keywords in a spreadsheed, where the keywords are arranged after importance. So when I upload to FT, I replace the title with the description, and the keywords with keywords in importance order, simply by copy/pasting from the spreadsheet.
The keyword part of it I can't get to work with Adobe Stock. The comma separated keywords don't get separated.
-
I asked on the other thread but as I know you are reading this one a question for Mat. As an emerald contributor how do I raise my file prices using the adobe interface?
-
since most of us already have keywords in the IPTC, a better use for autokeywording would be to suggest ADDITIONAL keywords
but a MUCH more useful tool would be auto-categorizing, which is currently the slowest part of submitting (still faster than many sites)
-
This is great I've been a fan of Fotolia for 10 years with thousands of images. I see the port in my adobe account....but the uploader just does not seem to be working. I can't see my files uploaded and I can't keyword them because they do not upload. I'm uploading the correct file types. I provided an image of my screen. Kind of at a lose....does anyone know how to upload to adobe?

Their eps conversion went down a few days ago. I'm not sure what the ETA is on it being back up. Here's the thread:

While submitting an image today I've noticed that the free section is turned on.
I had turned it off previously and it was off by default.
I've checked my previous files and it seems it was turned on for some time.
I am not sure how this happened.

How do we tell if this is turned on? especially for past images that might have been submitted that way?

If you go to edit you could see if it is yes or no.

Default is "yes" for free section, it always was that way. It resets to "yes" each time. First thing I do when uploading is : select all images, turn off free images, deselect all.
If I remember correctly, only rejected images go to the free section if this option is set to "yes".
-
It was yes by default but once changed the new default was no, at least for me.
-
If you upload via Adobe Stock, there is no free section and any rejected images will not go to Fotolia's free section (although I thought that was removed anyway, but I'm not sure about that)

Hi Mat and others!
I have a similar story as Dodie:
“FT was my bestseller till mid last year but after AS overtook the agency, sales are dropping slowly but continuously, sinking to 30% earnings in 2017 compared to 2016.«
In general AS is my best agency, but lately (last 7 months) my revenue is decreasing.
I checked my month earnings at FT and made a graph showing the index of earnings (index) by months for the year 2015, 2016 and 2017. Until September 2016, my monthly earnings increased compared to the same month of the previous year. On Oct 2016 I sync my FT account to my AS and then my earnings are dropping slowly and continuously… Maybe this is a reason? I uploading new images mostly twice a week (whole year), my acceptance rate is about 80% and improving so I still hope that my earnings can be stabilized and started to increase.
All the best!

Any answer on changing prices of uploaded files via the adobe interface? What price do they go up as on FL if I upload them on adobe?

The extended license price is automatically set to the maximum possible price on Fotolia. If you are ranked silver or higher, your EL price is 100 credits. The standard license credits price is 1 for XS and goes up from there.

Hi Mat,
With Adobe now being a member of Pond5's Global Partner Program...I would like some clarification on whether we should keep uploading video to Fotolia/Adobe or vice versa. I gather the issue of duplication of files on both sites must be a problem. Thanks.

Same here. From April May 2016 things turned from a steady month on month improvement to a slow decline in sales volume with the occasional good month. It seems that there is too much tinkering to the search. I guess that maybe the influence of an ex SS employee. Oddly, SS has gone from strength to strength and is now over taking FT.

I saw the post from the contributor about falling sales at Adobe so I thought I would plot my results. I have been seeing a steady increase from Adobe but this graph really shows it:
The rest of the analysis is on my blog as usual:
http://www.backyardsilver.com/2017/05/experience-adobe-stock/ (http://www.backyardsilver.com/2017/05/experience-adobe-stock/)
I like the steady sales of what I think of as some of my better images, and I also like the way new files can been seen and picked up by buyers - much better than the experience on Shutterstock where if you miss being seen in the first few days, you might as well not exist!
Whatever Adobe Stock are doing - keep it up!

Thumbnails edit for video Mat, its very important

also you can automatic the keywords which are the some with the tittle go first

I can not stress enough how being able to pick a thumbnail image for your video is!!! I can't believe all sites don't have this as one of the first things! It will increase sales for all of us.

I'm not sure about others that noted dropping sales but I was over $1200 p/m (emerald) and now it's down to $1000. Your graph looks similar to what I had when I was at that earning point. I guess the problem is all relative and the only true way of seeing the impact (across all contributors) is to play around with the raw data. Not going to happen.
Hopefully it keeps on going for you and it doesn't run out of steam. I'd certainly be very happy if FT returned to how it used to be (for me).

OK thanks for that Mat...

So....from what I see at this time on Adobe is that the EPS upload process simply does not work and at this time there is zero way to get vector content onto adobe. Am I understanding this correctly? It seems to have been like this all week.

You are half right. EPS vector uploads are temporarily disabled. You can upload AI vectors however. I'll be sure to post an update here in MSG once the EPS uploads are reactivated.
thanks,
Mat

Thank you for keeping us updated. Can you estimate how long it will take for the vector uploads to be back to normal? I am trying to decide if I should wait, or upload AI (which I prefer not to, except if it takes a long time to fix the issue).

Hello Mat and hello all!
I have an only suggestion regarding the Adobe Stock portfolio. I strongly need the search by ID inside the private area of my portfolio. This is a "MUST" when someone has a large portfolio and needs to make changes fast to any image. If I find an image which not sells well and I want to optimize keywords for example, I don't have many chances of search inside my portfolio, not all the times you can find fast an image ordering by Upload date, Sells or Visits. I can find it by ID only typing the ID inside the search box (but already I am in the buyer area) and, once found, I cannot edit it, at least you don't add an Edit button under the image which works when you are logged in. As Fotolia has: "This is one of your files, you can index it". Searching an image in order to modify the metadata can be frustrating and a waste of time!
I hope Adobe will resolve this issue as soon as possible because I'm not alone, I spoke with a lot of contributors and they need this search by ID too!

@zsoofija I don't have an eta at this time. I'll be sure to provide information when I have it.
@eZeePics...duly noted. I've shared your comments with the development team.
All the best,

I would like the option to turn of the autofill for keywords so that I can fill in keywords with a simple cut and paste in a blank box.
It sometimes brings up one i had not thought but right now the interface is really time consuming for me. I put my keywords in a list in the right order and then cut ans paste.
If there is an option to tun it off, then one can work for both groups.

I completely agree with you.

If you upload an image with the keywords already embedded in the metadata then the auto-keyword tool is automatically deactivated.
If you don't want to use any of the auto-keywords you can click "erase all keywords" under the keyword boxes to remove them all. Once done you can paste your entire list of keywords (separated by comma or semi-colon) into the top box. Click the tab key to distribute keywords into their own individual boxes after doing so.

Thanks Matt, I will try the erase all.
I do not put keywords into meta data of images as part of usual workflow. Not all my photography is meant for stock/internet.

Is there a trick to updating keywords of old files on adobe stock? Because, if we change order of keywords, old ordering stays no matter what.

There is a bug on the Adobe site.
I have noticed this some month ago.
It is not always possible to edit the title and the keywords of some files.
The files that you cannot edit are files where the category has disappeared (how it has disappeared, this is a big question).
To see this you have to go on the Fotolia indexing page. If the category is missing put it back and save.
Then you would be able to manage your titles and keywords on the Adobe page.

Hi Mat,
Please tell us when are you going to fix the EUR/GBP rate at Adobe Stock? The rate is wrong for around 1 year already. Isn't it enough time to fix the rate?

Hello Mat, any news about the issue I have reported? Is really annoying that we cannot fast edit an image and we have to search one by one inside the portfolio in order to find it. Thanks,

Hi Mat,
It would be really great to have Payoneer on Fotolia/Adobe! Do you plan to add them as third payment option? If not why?
Thanks

This may have been requested before, but I would like to see some feedback on the dashboard after a credit conversion has been made. Something does show up right away, but then it seems to disappear. Something like "X credits have been requested for conversion."It's taking a few days for those credits to be paid out, so it would be nice to know it is in the works.

Mat,
In addition to my previous unanswered question I ask another one:
When will the EPS upload be fixed?

The EPS vector uploads have been fixed for months. If you are still having trouble you will likely need to use ftp and not the web uploader.
