Topic: payment delay

slowly but steadily some contributor came out in Fotolia forum reporting issues about a growing delay in payments. I can confirm that: 17 days gone with my request for payment still pending.
It seems that every month that passes delays are growing and that is really not a good sign. Having former experience in admin job when you delay payments it is the first indicator of some financial difficulties.

would like to know if the silence here in this forum is because all is fine for other contributors, payments are made promptly, or just not worried yet?  Huh

p.s.  I am an emerald contributor, so I'm speaking about four digits here... not peanuts. Support replied with the usual standard form: "we will forward to admin., sorry for the delay"

No its not fine for me, Fotolia switched from "We pay in three to four days..." to "We pay whenever we feel like it..." some time ago. It don't see it as an indicator of financial troubles - as they are selling like crazy for me right now - I rather think that some beancounter found out that they can make extra money by delaying payments to their contributors  Grin

I am not worried about it.  It seems they have some sort of a schedule but they just don't tell what it is.  I requested payout on the 1st of the last 3 months and was payed on the 11th of each month (Jan, Feb, Mar).  I hadn't looked before but was surprised to see the same payday on each month.

In general though, I wouldn't get too concerned with Fotolia unless it goes well over 2 weeks

I was paid yesterday, 5 days after the request for payment which is probably about the average time I have waited over the last few months. Tuesdays seem to be a common day for payments to be made for me.

It may be that contributors' accounts are administrated by their local offices and/or according to the currency that they are paid in. I think it more likely that undue delays are due to 'growing pains' of the admin infrastructure rather than financial difficulties or other issues.

I'm not worried, just a bit concerned. I'm currently waiting four weeks for my pay-out.

It will be two weeks for me on Friday.

I agree the payouts have been taking longer in recent months, but I don't take it as a sign of financial troubles.  Fotolia is the fastest growing site I contribute to.   I think Gostwyck is right that this is more likely "growing pains".

I'm on the verge of giving them the middle finger. Altough I'm bronze for years, they still pay me 3$ = 2 euro for EL. I heard I should beg them to get upgraded. Luckily I'm not depending on stock for my income. One of these days they will just get that middle finger.  Grin

As soon as I get a payment from them I just stick in a request for the next, having looked through my payment history if they do have a schedule it's very well disguised.

There  are two ways to change this: You either click through your portfolio and change the EL price photo by photo, or you send them an e-mail and ask them to do it for you. I did the later (twice now) and it was done within a few days each time... You don't have to beg, just ask  Huh

My request is still pending since 03-01-2010. I agree the waiting time is getting longer and longer every time. Sad

It took 16 days for me to get paid. I don't think they are in financial trouble. The way the commission structure is setup and the volume of sales they are getting,  this must be highly profitable for the the owner(s). Denis

good to hear that there are some cases similar to mine and also some optimistic (but reasonably so)
view of the reasons why delay in payments is growing month after month (I suspect more so for the bigger
sums than the smaller ones...).

Always good to share and hear other experience, opinions and point of view. Thanks to all for their feedback.

payments had been pretty prompt for me  in the past  but for the recent months   they got really slow ,I wish they'd announced their payment  schedule  so  we could  at least know when to expect the payment and there wouldn't be need to contact support neither would there be  so many complaints.

same here, it is now 14 days and counting. In the past it was 1-4 days at most. I am not sure if it is really growing pains. It would be nice if they fix a day a month like 123rf.

update: today is 19th day with no payment and after second polite request to support, for 3 days I got no answer at all. They simply ignore us, as usual...

sad, very sad.   Sad

Unbelievable!
My very polite asking of why after another three days of complete silence, making them notice that for me as a professional, FT royalties is representing to me a 'salary', I got an answer of the kind: 'don't dare ask again about your payment (*that is 19 days late, BTW), because you have already asked once"
So, evidently, they can continue to delay payments and you have no right to ask anymore!   Angry

I agree.  If payouts are becoming unmanageable for them, then they might want to consider going to a once a week system like Istock or once a month like SS or 123.  I wouldn't mind the wait if I knew I was going to be paid the same time each week or month....

I haven't written support yet, so I will go ahead and write.  Hopefully not get the kind of answer wiseguy did.
