Topic: Question about country in pictures

I have a (rather stupid) question about the country you state in your FT pictures... I thought up to now it is the country where I live, so I always put Canada... but does it maybe stand for the country where the picture has been taken?

Thanks and sorry for my newbie question..  Roll Eyes

it is the country where the photo has been taken. If it filled in in IPTC ("country of origin"), fotolia will pick it up automatically.

P.S. your country is already known to fotolia from your registration data, no need to re-ask wih every new photo Smiley

You should be able to edit your own images yourself, I believe Smiley
Though will it really matter ??  Are they specific to a region/country ??

You cannot edit FT images once they are submitted.

A few years ago I did the same thing, forgetting to put the correct country in which the photos were taken. I wrote support, but they said, sorry, they were not able to change it.

You best hope is to resubmit with a note that they are to correct already accepted images. But if you do, expect that most of them will be rejected for some reason or other.  Grin

So, what does it actually do?

Initially I thought it is somehow related to taxing,
or does it change the search positioning depending, lets say, on the visitor's county of origin?

It’s for the search. But it looks like there are many people who are making the same mistake as simsi and putting in the country where they live.

I made the same mistake when I started with FT but support did change it for me.
