Topic: Subscription and extended licence?

Funny thing: since FT introduced subs, I sold maybe 1 EX licence, and I used to sell about 1-2 per month before that. Do buyers think when they buy subscription package that they dont have to buy EX licence separately or something? I cant remember when I sold my last EX licence.... Sad

I hope that is not the case. As I already said somewhere else here on this forum, I had my first Ext Lic with Fotolia a couple of months ago. It doubled my earnings and it was encouraging for me to upload more . Esp. when Fotolia was my most recent micro site I joined even though I have been with the other Big 6 +3 over one and half year by now. My portfolio is small; even smaller with Fotolia , yet I already earned half as much with Fotolia then I have with the other Big 6 in this short time.

Peter, I am getting subs as well as the higher commission pay , sort of half and half. I hope what you experienced is not a pattern .  I sure would like to see more Ext Lic with Fotolia, for a small earner like myself.

It is probably just a coincidence, I think my EL's have increased.

Just curious, I know Ext Lic 's are not as common as regular dl or subs. However, does anyone here know which of the Big6 pays the best commission for it?

Hope they aren't thinking that.

FWIW my ELs are down a bit overall, but had two in the last two days, so that was nice.  Smiley

FT pay me the most because of my ranking, They sell for 200$ of which I get about 76$.
Istock pay between 20 and 40$ ,
only had a couple at 123 at about 20$,
at DT the highest ones I've had have been 25$
and SS pay a straight 28$.
Don't remember if I've ever had one at bigstock or StockXpert.
And to answer the Peter's question, no my EL sales didn't change at FT when subs were introduced.

Wow 76$, sweet!
I was smiling all day when I got 6$ for my first ever Ext Lic with Fotolia the other day. Which was also the first ever being in microstock for only  over one and the half years, and no Ext Lic with any of the Big 6.  I joined Fotolia last of all. Within 4 months, I get my first Ext Lic. which was a hoot to me, and now I am optimistic and contributing more to Fotolia, hoping to build my tiny portfolio.

Can you imagine what would happen if I got 76$ like you , fotografer?
I would be dancing in the rain ! heh!heh!

Do you get a lot of ELs at FOT?  I have heard other high rank sellers say they don't charge the max allowed.

Hard to believe that having ELs set at $200 would not affect volume...?

Mine are priced at 150 $... rarely get one.
On Shutterstock however always have a few each month.
Dreamstime if i'm correct 2 in 5 years... that's it.

Interesting you said that. I haven't had any ELs since the subscription started.

I think it's been more than one year since I last had a EL in FT.  I had most of my ELs in FT, but not as frequently as some of you reported.

The most I ever got was 5 in one month but average is one or two a month and believe me I do a little dance everytime I get one Smiley I get more now than when I had them at 10$

I've never had an EL on SS, but have had a half dozen or so on Fotolia!

Perhaps some of what we see is just random fluctuation.
