Hello friends,

I joined DT with recommendation of a friend in 2012. Started to work on it seriously in 2013 and since then I'm exclusive with Dreamstime. I have right now 7000+ photography and 1200+ illustrations / concept artwork.

Here is my portfolio there: newbielink:https://www.dreamstime.com/keremgo_info [nonactive]

I always have to work hard and support my sales with upload bonuses to get my $100.

This $100 became a barrier to me - and I was wondering if I can go beyond it. But I also don't want to fool myself because as you can see my portfolio is not much popular type of stock oriented images with bright white backgrounds and smiling people in suits.

I can't find the courage to leave exclusivity on DT because it is almost as same as leaving the site. Upload bonus will be gone and I'll drop down on search rankings and even my 2-4 daily sales will gone. With my current portfolio sometimes I make 2-4 sales a day sometimes a bit more but never 10-15. Sometimes no sales at all.

I'm reading a lot that other artists and photographers doing better in Shutterstock. I've been on their forum and there are contributors complain about low sales too but I of course don't know their standards because one might complain not having $500 sales in a week or month and another one might complain on not making mıuch less.

Besides Shutterstock I'm also considering Alamy. Because Shutterstock will probably not accept my car illustrations (Mustang and Rolls Royce) - I thought I might submit some high quality images to Alamy too.

There are some downsides of course - my country Turkey (the master of rolling back in time to the stone age) banned Paypal and I'm using Payoneer card to withdraw my payments. Shutterstock recently offered Payoneer and Alamy has no option except Skrill - which I also have but works slow with Turkish banks.

Here's some of my earning info from DT - I hope this is okay to share:

Q1 2017: $124.65
Q2 2017: $171.76
Q3 2017: $107.61
Q4 2017: $146.23
Q1 2018: $129.27

Since I'm also working as a freelancer I don't have time and too much patience to wrestle all kinds of agencies. I will keep Dreamstime, will try to make Shutterstock and Alamy to accept my work - and then nothing I can do except keep shooting and rendering and wait for sales.

You see in my situation the exclusive upload bonus is helpful but I also want my hard work a bit more valuable. My photography is not selling too much on Dreamstime but mostly my illustrations making sales: newbielink:https://www.dreamstime.com/keremgo_latest-illustrations-vectors-clipart_pg1 [nonactive]

I understand that grass is not always green on the other side and its not a guarantee that a portfolio like mine can generate even a single sale on Shutterstock and Alamy; knowing and considering these is also the reason I stick with Dreamstime exclusivity this long.

I really need some solid advice from experienced contributors on this without making a major decision and leave Dreamstime exclusivity - no one can guarantee anything of course but at least I need a glimpse of hope that I might make good sales and earn a bit more in Shutterstock (and in Alamy perhaps) perhaps $250-500 monthly? Or a bit more than just $100?

I really love doing this and putting all my heart to it and your help and suggestions will be highly appreciated - thank you all very much in advance.

No offense, but idea of being a DT exclusive is laughable.

Perfectly agree. To exclusive at any microstock agency is unthinkable, and then of all agencies Dreamstime...
Upload to SS, Adobe and Alamy. You should make at least 3 times more than what you are doing now.
Some of your images are good, although, as you said, not all your images are microstock oriented.
Good luck

I'm finding it tough enough to justify being exclusive at a Midstock agency, let alone at a small earning Micro site with a questionable future

Thank you all for your time to reply!

That was what I've wanted dear friends - cold hard facts and truth based on experience and knowledge. Please keep sharing your thoughts; nothing offensive there and I'll never get offended no matter what.

I tried exclusivity with one site - but so far, 0 sales from that site. I am thinking of going non-exclusive because otherwise it means I can't sell that content elsewhere...
