I had a pretty good month at IS, best month in about 12. With referral earnings it was a BME for me. DT and SS limped along in 2nd place pretty much doing the same as the previous few months despite adding many new images over the past couple of months. When I get to 2500 downloads at IS, I'm going to seriously take a look at exclusivity...

Jan=BME (+ 10% compared to previous BME=Nov 07)
300+ images

iStock                     45,9% (BME)
shutterstock            15,5%
digitalstock.de          12,5%(BME, German site)
panthermedia            7,9% (BME)
dreamstime               7,7%
stockxpert                7,1%
other (bs,ft,123rf)      3,2%

As said by Nazdravie: "istock is absolutely rocking"!!!

Very disappointing results and declines at dreamstime, stockxpert, shutterstock.

Surprising good resuls at digitalstock and panthermedia despite low number of uploads (so far <90 images).

Results are something to think about regarding future upload strategies...(see also thread "are things going well in microstock")

I will add my numbers regarding site efficiency here, because I realized that they are important for me regarding future upload strategy.

RPI (monthly return per image in portfolio)
panthermedia      1,3
digitalstock         1,05
IS                     0,99
SS                    0,35
StockXpert                  0,17
DT                    0,12

I have posted my numbers from the second month in microstock:
http://www.pixelsaway.com/C911796005/E20080201005222/index.html

My portfolio is still too small to make any statistically significant conclusions, but it may be of some interest for somebody just starting or thinking about it.

Encouraging results from iStock, disappointing from everywhere else ...

IS    36%
SS   26%
DT   17%
FT      8%
StockXpert   7%
BS     5%

The interesting thing is the big gap in January between IS and SS. They were pretty much level last year with 30% each, and finished the year only a few dollars apart. A fluke of the best match? Will it continue? Who knows Grin
And why do some people do so well on FT, while it really drags for others? Any ideas?

some do well on FT if they arrange keywords properly, and if their portfolio matches  FT needs more closely. I can't think of other reasons.

Also a very good month for me. BME on all sites except BS. Breakdown is:

SS - 42%
IS - 41%
DT - 10%
FL - 5%
BS - 1.8%

Canstock - 0%
Snapvilliage - 0%

Anyone up for a race to $1k per month?? This month has me at 65% of the way to that goal...

Just for the fun of it: I join for the $1k race: 70% of it in January.
BTW: great travel images!

Here are my stats for January:

IS - 56%
SS - 17%
DT - 15%
FT - 12%

I reached a major milestone this month.  It was the first month that I broke the $1,000 per month mark!  I'm so excited!!   Grin

I have to admit, seeing how much of my earnings come from istock and the fact that I'll be at gold in a few weeks, I'm seriously considering going exclusive.  Granted, I'm tied down for the next few months at DT  Angry which will give me plenty of time to think it over more but it could be in my future.

My January 2008 numbers, with 2007 for comparison:

Site 2007 Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec
IS 26% 22%
DT 16% 30%
StockXpert 20% 19%
FT 13% 8%
BigStock 8% 8%
123 4% 5%
FP 3% 2%
CanStockPhoto 2% 1%
LO 2% 3%
Scan 1% 0%
CS <1% 0%
rest 4% 3%

Overall earnings were 36% above December and 5% below November, and my 4th best month in the past 12 months.

DT had an excellent performance - my BME there.  Even without the EL I had (my first there), it would have been my 2nd BME.  IS was a bit better than in Dec, StockXpert a bit worse (with subs sales picking up a bit).

FT recovered a bit after a very poor December, but BigStock was ahead of it for very little (almost 50%), now my 5th earner.  2nd BME in 123RF, though still a low performer for me. Good month in LO, but stil very low.  Low sales in CanStockPhoto, no sales in CS and Scanstock (the latter was a sad surprise).  I stopped recording IV here because of no sales in months.

Not shown above, I had one sale in StockPhotoMedia and one in Paxxion.

Regards,
Adelaide

Adelaide,

If you don't mind me asking, are you still trying to get into shutterstock since I didn't see it in your stats?

If so what application are you on? I will be soon submitting my fourth application. This will be the first time that I downsize my images to 4mp as suggested ...

Mark,

I never tried SS because it's subs only.

Ok Ldambies and Mellimage!  You're on!   Cool

I'll take a guess that I will get there in either May or June.  But we'll see.  I didn't see $200 coming in January.
