Title: Newbie question: is there a platform that you think my content might do well?
Post by: Gcarter08 on February 15, 2018, 22:31
Hey I am looking into which of the big sites are best for my style work. I've spoken to Getty, Shutterstock and Offset so far and they say they want my work on their sites, but I am curious if there is one that might be a better fit?

If you have any feedback or constructive criticism, please let me know

My portfolio is http://gcarter.photos/gallery/

Thanks
Gerald

I love your work. Looks really amazing.

The list on the right is a helpful aggregate of many contributors earnings and experiences.

General concensus seems to be that you can earn more by selling non-exclusively to many agencies rather than going with just one.

Glad you reached out on the forum and would love to hear more about your direction in the future.

Thanks! I didn't consider the non-exclusive route and wasn't sure if that was an option.I see shutterstock seems to be at the top on the poll on the right by a large margin followed by adobe stock.

You could always try out for Stocksy and wait 4 months...

Going exclusive also makes you a hostage of an agency taking directions and making decisions that in practice never consider contributors' interests, although they can align at times of course. I have an impression that exclusive contributors more often than not get a raw deal that they lock themselves in. Your mileage can vary of course, but think long and hard before going exclusive.
