Shutterstock by far is the best for me. They have the best $/picture/year and accept the most images.
-
Sales at iStock are by far the best for me
-
Yeah, for me too, but not by much. Perhaps I need to submit a few more images there to get things going.
-
Istock is best for me but Shutterstock is very close
-
wow, i wonder what i am doing wrong. Why some people have istock as the higher earner. I have heard people say that too. Perhaps it is just what types of customers peoples images appeal too... :-\ ???
-
Istock for me as well, by a big margin.
This month averaging $2.55 a day with only 123 images. Shutterstock is down at $1.2 / day with basically the same images give or take some differences in acceptances. I've also got 77 images on Dreamstime and they've only done $0.58c/day.
I keep telling myself I'll get off my chuff and put some more stuff online, but it just trickles along at two or three images a week at the mo. Not going to get rich this way, but it keeps me entertained.

I find my shutterstock sales really vary with when I upload. If i keep constantly uploading my average is really high, both on the new images and on my old images. If i don't upload for a few weeks, the average drops quite a bit.
I think quite a few buyers sort the images by what is new, then see the new images people upload, then if they see what they like, possibly they click on their gallery, and download more of their images.

I agree with "leaf's" comment on the recent photos increase sales and in certain categories it's more apparent. Beliieve it or not Nature/Flowers.

iStock is a good place in regards of earnings. Average daily earnings for me is over 100 dollars.
-
wow 100 over dollars a day !!

Shutterstock is my top earner by far with iStock a bit behind. I get more images accepted at Shutterstock so I assume that's the reason. I've got 67 images at Shutterstock and 44 images at iStock.

This month Dreamstime is really catching up for me. I have more Fotos there than on Shutterstock, but all the time shutterstock was the best earner, even with less amount of pictures. Since this month Shutterstock earnings looks really good, but DT is a Dollar ahead. Istock has the best per picture sells, but I just have so few photos there..

wow that is pretty impressive. What is your istock gallery?
-
US$100 A DAY at iStock only? I can only dream...

At the moment I am reluctant to share any identity information here, only because this site is new to me (but interesting of course because I feel we can be honest here). :)
I will tell you this though; 95% of my downloads from iStock is based on vector illustrations, and I am 'exclusive' now so I am not selling my work any where else anymore. In the beginning of my stock adventure I was uploading to a few other sites, but the earnings never even came close to the money iStock could offer on the 'exclusive' contract. My experience is that iStock reject more than other sites do, but in the end they sell more.
I believe that all the other microstock sites would benefit if they accepted vectors. Many of the top photographers on iStock earn a lot more than I do. The best of them have somewhere between 200 and 500 downloads every day.

My best site is iStock. SS was good for a while, and naturally accepted more pics, but I think sales have dropped recently. I'd wish they did something to the layout so that it is possible to browse photographers' galleries by subject.

hey Quevaal, I think i remember looking at your website a long time ago. Were you from norway too?
-
Yeah, we even exchanged some PMs at Shutterstock. I see you everywhere now! :)

yeah that was where it was. Nice gallery.

iStock was the best earner for me for the last 9 months, however recently for some unknown reason (I keep uploading) it started lagging and I had three decreasing months in a row. Still, it provides a solid payout every single month.
Shutterstock has been very "ebb and flow". If I upload I get a lot of dl's for about a week or two (2-4 downloads per month per picture in portfolio). Then down again to approximately 0.5-1 dl's/mo/pic. Still with a decent portfolio that's regular payouts.
Dreamstime has been ROCKING! It's not up to payout a month yet, but very close. It also gives the best per sale earning, although now that they have gone away with guest sales that is to fall (I had a lot of impulse referrals off my website).
Steady sales on Fotolia for a couple of months despite my folio growing fast. I think that's due to database dilution. Fotolia's been in the "arms race" to get to a million photos online and doubled in the last half year. So did my portfolio, but basically that means I get the same sales as before. They're marketing seems to be lagging miles behind they're database growth.
All else: peanuts. I've cashed out (unfortunately not regularly) out of few sites, but they are NOT major producers. Besides these four above, the other 5 I regularly upload to contribute 5% of my earnings. Yipee!

For me IStock continues to be in a race for 3rd with Bigstock. Dreamstime is way out front in terms of revenue, but at Shutterstock, I've sold 3 times the images. Says something about Dreamstime pricing. Problem is, DT slaced way off in June and Shutterstock will catch it soon in terms of revenue as well.

WEll I guess I am the only one here voting for Dreamstime.
So far so good they are the best for me :-)
