Title: trying to figure out my pay for a 4K video clips on Getty says .71 cents

So I logged in to the ESP site and looked at the royalties, and it just says this, "below"  am I not looking in the correct area of the site?  Not sure why it would just be .71 cents for a 4K video clip.  Thanks

Neat-O Dave you can probably get a cup of coffee at McDonald's for your work. Yes reading this and my recent commissions on the Micro sites has me thinking like that?  ;) I remember when photos were slowing, illustrations were the hot way to make more. Then that leveled off and video was the new wave. Next it was 4k video. People invest, buy more and better equipment and we get paid less and less.

Something seems wrong about that?

That's normal on Getty. Big buyers get this range of price as they pay some kind of fee to Getty (which contributors have zero cut ).

I refuse to spend the time and bandwidth to upload 4K at those prices and commissions.

But, that said, I still can get about $1K - $2K per month with my existing portfolio, so...

I decided last year to submit some new material to iStock, but I now downsize all my 4K to H.264 HD files specifically for iStock. The files are more compressed than I care for, but they pass the iStock reviewers.  And the buyers on iStock who are used to paying little for their stock will only get my highly-compressed H.264 HD files.

That's my justification.

I think they have a feature where a person can buy a still frame from a video and you get paid under $1 for the still frame. it is not clear in the sales report but it is possible that your 71 cent sale is form a still.

Uploading video (HD or 4K) to Istock/Getty is probably one of the worst business decisions you can make as a videographer.
